El centro de la ciudad presenta fracturas históricas en lo formal y lo intangible, la yuxtaposición de construcciones que se apilan unas sobre otras en el tiempo, han dado como resultado la situación actual: espacios poco cohesivos, inequitativos, con limitada reflexión sobre su pasado, presente y futuro. Se busca con el proyecto la transformación del espacio público, logrando hilar las realidades sociales y económicas de las personas que habitan, así como recuperar la esencia histórica de la plaza fundacional de la ciudad de Medellín, convirtiéndose realmente en “el centro de muchas cosas”.
Abstract
The center of the city presents historical fractures in the formal and the intangible, the juxtaposition of buildings that are stacked one on top of the other over time, have resulted in the current situation: spaces that are not very cohesive, inequitable, with limited reflection on their past, present and future. With the project, the transformation of the public space is sought, managing to weave together the social and economic realities of the people who inhabit, as well as recovering the historical essence of the founding square of the city of Medellín, truly becoming “the center of many things ”.
