The present research work consisted of a systematic review on the effects of deprivation of liberty in young people in conflict with the criminal law who have been sanctioned under this modality, it was evidenced that adolescents in detention environments are affected by health problems complex, including risk behaviors and high rates of suicide-related premature death. A search was carried out in databases such as Scopus, PsycARTICLES, SciELO and Redalyc, with inclusion criteria that included young people linked to criminal responsibility systems, publications ranging from 2010 to 2020 and belonging to sources of academic quality verifiable, such as indexed, peer-reviewed, and impact factor journals. It was possible to find relevant information related to effects on a physical, mental and sexual level. Prolonged deprivation of liberty and from a young age implies a different socialization, so it is necessary to investigate these effects in each context to plan juvenile justice services based on this evidence and thus improve the detection and intervention of factors that generate effects. negatives of custodial sanctions.spa
