Understanding psychological dimensions such as impulsivity, aggression, empathy, and emotional regulation makes it possible to identify specific intervention needs related to risk factors associated with criminal behavior. The study aimed to characterize these psychological dimensions in a sample of PDL from the Acacías Medium-Security Prison and Penitentiary, analyzing their interrelationships and implications for correctional treatment. To achieve this objective, a mixed-method design with comparative and cross-sectional predictive components was implemented. Eighty-nine participants were assessed using seven psychometric instruments: SUPPS-P and BIS-11 for impulsivity, RPQ and AQ for aggression, IRI and EQ for empathy, and DERS for emotional regulation. The results revealed three principal components accounting for 52% of the total variance: a behavioral aggression–impulsivity pattern, an emotional dysregulation structure, and an empathic-emotional processing component. Cluster analysis identified two distinct profiles: one group characterized by greater psychological vulnerability, marked by high emotional impulsivity and dysregulation, and another group characterized by greater emotional regulation and adaptation. These findings have direct implications for correctional care and treatment, suggesting the need for differentiated interventions based on the identified profiles. For the vulnerable group, intensive interventions focused on emotional regulation and behavioral control are recommended, whereas the adaptive group would benefit from strengthening existing coping and self-regulation strategies. The results provide an empirical basis for the design of individualized treatment programs and the prediction of risk factors within the Colombian penitentiary context.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Experiencias de interacciones sexuales abusivas entre niños, niñas y adolescentes al interior de los operadores del ICBF(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-12-15) Jonathan Alejandro, Huérfano Guerrero; Acevedo Arango, Oscar Fernando; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001343764; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001429758; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=S5-lWu4AAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2892-7521The objective of this research is to describe the processes that cause, facilitate, maintain, and reproduce the occurrence of abusive sexual interactions among children and adolescents within the institutions operated by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), based on the narratives of former youth residents, instructors, and psychosocial teams. This study focuses particularly on the psychosocial residential care modality, where prolonged cohabitation and the absence of specific protocols create conditions that can facilitate the emergence of abusive sexual behaviors. A qualitative approach was employed, using Critical Discourse Analysis (Wodak & Meyer, 2003). Twelve in-depth interviews were conducted and analyzed with Atlas.ti software, applying the criteria of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability (Lincoln & Guba, 1985). From this analysis, the grounded category "Dialectic of Trauma and Resistance" emerged. This category explains how diachronic factors—such as adverse events, previous sexual abuse, and emotional deficiencies—can interact with synchronic institutional factors—such as coercion, understaffing, lack of administrative response, and psychological reactance—to configure power dynamics that reproduce abuse and covert resistance. This model reveals that the ICBF's institutional mechanisms, in their attempt to control child sexuality, end up reactivating trauma and fostering resistance practices. This highlights the need for differentiated protocols and specialized training in child sexuality.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Caracterización de las dimensiones de impulsividad, agresividad, empatía y regulación emocional en una muestra de personas privadas de la libertad en la cárcel y penitenciaria de media seguridad de Bogotá- CPMSBOG(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-10-06) Umbarila Lopez, Stefania; Quiroga Baquero, Luis Alberto; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001048902; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000040507; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=psB0kvkAAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9646-9860; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-4608-4425Psychological assessment in prison contexts plays a relevant role in the understanding of criminal behaviour and penitentiary interventions. Psychological dimensions such as empathy, aggressiveness, impulsivity, and emotional regulation significantly influence criminal behaviour. This study explored and characterised these dimensions in 110 persons deprived of liberty at the Medium Security Prison and Penitentiary of Bogotá (CPMSBOG). A mixed-methods design was implemented, featuring a comparative component based on natural groups and a predictive cross-sectional element, conducted through a three-phase procedure. Psychometric instruments adapted for Colombia were applied, including the Personal, Sociodemographic, and Criminal Data Questionnaire; the Short UPPS-P Impulsive Behaviour Scale and the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale BIS-11; the Reactive and Proactive Aggression Questionnaire RPQ; the Aggression Questionnaire AQ; the Interpersonal Reactivity Index IRI; the Empathy Quotient EQ; and the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale DERS. The results showed a tendency to act impulsively under intense emotions and a strong inclination toward novelty and risk, especially in low-supervision settings. A moderate propensity for aggressiveness was identified, with a distribution skewed toward the lower end, although individual scores were high, with physical aggression and hostility being the highest subscales. Empathy showed a moderate-to-high tendency, indicating an adequate capacity to cognitively and affectively understand others’ emotions. Emotional regulation presented some moderate difficulties, reflecting problems in identifying, recognising, and managing emotions. The findings have significant implications in the legal and correctional fields, as identifying multidimensional psychological profiles facilitates the design of more effective and personalised interventions for educational or restorative programs.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , La pertinencia de la conciliación en el delito de violencia intrafamiliar.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2016) Ordoñez Hernández, Ken Kelly; Villanueva Viva, Andrea; Londoño Zuluaga, Nadia Ximena; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Exactitud del testimonio infantil: diferencias a partir de prácticas correctas y prácticas incorrectas en la técnicas de entrevista.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2016) Delgado Chaves, Martha Isabel; Reyes Niño, Lyda Elizabeth; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Factores psicológicos y sociales de presuntas víctimas de actos sexuales abusivos que se han retractado en juicio oral.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2015) Guerrero Solano, Ana Milena; Aránzazu Jinete, Sandra Bibiana; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Actitud frente a la deserción como instrumento de control social por parte del actor jurídico en la Fuerza Aérea Colombiana.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2015) Pachón Piragauta, Efraín C; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Actitudes hacia la justicia restaurativa y estrategias de afrontamiento en jóvenes vinculados al Sistema de Responsabilidad Penal Adolescente SRPA.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2015) Méndez González, Yohana Marcela; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Procesos de victimización secundaria que viven las mujeres víctimas de familiares de desaparición forzada.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2015) López Gaona, Luis Fernando; Piña Rivera, Mariano Alexis; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Realidades, Desafíos y Oportunidades de la Psicología Jurídica en el Ámbito Educativo Nocturno: Sistematización de una Experiencia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-04-02) Lacera Viveros, Natalia; Acevedo Arango, Oscar Fernando; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001343764; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000150385; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=S5-lWu4AAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2892-7521This systematization of the experience seeks to generate a critical reflection on the role of the legal psychologist in the school context, to recognize how his intervention influences the prevention, containment and reduction of dysfunctional and risky behaviors of law infringement. In particular, the following question is posed: What challenges does the night school of the IED Antonio Nariño pose to legal psychology professionals? To address this question, an exercise of observation, interview and analysis of the information obtained was carried out, which allowed the identification of the main challenges within the Antonio Nariño educational institution. Among these, the inappropriate implementation of disciplinary measures, the partial approach to restorative justice, the difficulties in resolving conflicts, the stigmatization of some students, among others, stand out. In addition, risk and protective factors that could influence the development of antisocial behaviors in this environment were recognized. From this analysis, a proposal was developed based both on the observations made by a teacher from the educational community and their own, as well as on scientific literature, with the aim of offering a plan for prevention, containment and reduction of criminal risk, based on the principles of Restorative Justice.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Caracterización de las dimensiones de impulsividad, agresividad, empatía y regulación emocional en una muestra de personas privadas de la libertad en el complejo carcelario y penitenciario de alta y media seguridad de Ibagué-Picañela(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Cruz Galeano, Alisson Mariana; Quiroga Baquero, Luis Alberto; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001048902; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=psB0kvkAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9646-9860In the field of forensic and penitentiary psychology, psychological assessment plays a crucial role in understanding criminal behaviors, as well as in developing and implementing treatment programs in prison settings. The present study analyzed the patterns of impulsivity, empathy, aggressiveness and emotional regulation in 217 persons deprived of liberty in the High and Medium Security Prison and Penitentiary Complex of Ibagué. A mixed approach was used, combining a comparative analysis of natural groups with a cross-sectional predictive study, through the application of seven psychological measurement instruments: SUPPS-P and BIS-11 to measure impulsivity; RPQ and AQ to assess aggressiveness; IRI and EQ to assess empathy; and DERS to examine emotional regulation. The results showed high scores on the dimensions of sensation seeking and unplanned impulsivity. As for aggressiveness, low levels were observed in its reactive and proactive forms, but high levels in verbal aggressiveness and hostility. Empathy showed high scores in empathic concern and perspective taking, while emotional regulation presented low scores in all its components. Correlational analysis revealed positive associations between the indexes of aggressiveness, impulsivity and difficulties in emotional regulation, and negative ones with empathy. Through cluster analysis, a high psychological risk profile was identified. With the Covid-19 in 2020, the national government through resolution 385 decreed the health emergency due to the virus and the start with mandatory confinement, which generated a new challenge regarding the estimation of statistics on the presence of gender violence, given that the alleged aggressors were inside the home 24/7. With the participation of 75 women in the diploma advanced by the teachers Óscar Acevedo and Camilo Flórez on the prevention of gender violence, data was obtained on the ease or difficulty of women to access a comprehensive service through the hotlines in the Colombian territory, finding that 45.3% of women have stated that they are victims; a high degree of satisfaction when accessing care routes, giving priority to legal assistance (73%), followed by psychological assistance (68.4%); In the same way, a high level of satisfaction was found with the follow-up that the entities carried out on the cases of violence, allowing a reduction in the negative emotions experienced (sadness, helplessness, guilt, defencelessness, etc.) by the women.
