El documento que tiene en sus manos es el resultado de un proceso investigativo, que consistió en indagar sobre la construcción de masculinidades, a partir de la experiencia de cinco estudiantes asistentes al gimnasio de la Universidad Santo Tomás (Sede central), teniendo como ejes de análisis la cultura, la educación y el cuerpo. Ahora bien, el tema tratado en esta investigación surge de un interés particular sobre la teoría de género, por lo que al profundizar en este campo se encontró un acercamiento al paradigma de masculinidades; de acuerdo con esto último se afirma que esta experiencia exploratoria abordó desde un campo cotidiano como el gimnasio, las definiciones y representaciones sobre masculinidad que un grupo de hombres aportaron, permitiendo ayudar a comprender las dimensiones de dicho paradigma. En ese sentido, el interés sobre las masculinidades se centró en hacer una investigación muy general, sin embargo ante los inconvenientes que esto trajo, se decidió tomar un enfoque sociológico que permitió rastrear la influencia de la cultura, la educación y el cuerpo en la construcción de las mismas, y aunque esta temática era más específica, no había una población definida. Razón por la cual a la hora de decidir el contexto se tomó la decisión de realizar el trabajo en el gimnasio de la USTA, simplemente porque allí y de acuerdo a las vivencias propias, se encontraba un escenario en donde los hombres asistentes reflejaban una gran diversidad de sentidos, prácticas y construcciones sociales frente al moldeamiento del cuerpo, lo cual creaba un puente que indicaba el camino para comprender la masculinidad.
Abstract
The document you are holding is the result of an investigative process, which consisted of investigating the construction of masculinities, based on the experience of five students attending the gymnasium of the Santo Tomás University (Headquarters), having as axes of analysis of culture, education and the body. Now, the topic treated in this investigation arises from a particular interest in gender theory, so when delving into this field an approach to the masculinities paradigm was found; In accordance with the latter, it is stated that this exploratory experience addressed from a daily field such as the gym, the definitions and representations of masculinity that a group of men contributed, helping to understand the dimensions of said paradigm. In this sense, the interest in masculinities was focused on doing a very general investigation, however, given the inconveniences that this brought, it was decided to take a sociological approach that allowed to trace the influence of culture, education and the body in construction of them, and although this topic was more specific, there was no defined population. Reason why when deciding the context, the decision was made to carry out the work in the USTA gym, simply because there and according to their own experiences, there was a stage where the attending men reflected a great diversity of senses, practices and social constructions against the shaping of the body, which created a bridge that indicated the way to understand masculinity.
