Abstract

When there is no interest in the topological nature of an urban element, especially in buildings of marked heritage value, their subsequent developments may generate distortions in the context in which they are located. This work, dedicated to the study of the development of the central campus of the Industrial University of Santander, its initial approach and its current status to date, aims to make a sustainable approach through the development of an architectural proposal, with the aim of responding to the current needs of the campus and its community, in a manner that is consistent and respectful of the environment from the point of view of the architectural exercise. During the process, criteria were investigated on the university city and its nature, reviewing photographic, physical and political records that determined the development process of the main campus of the university, which allowed formulating a series of basic guidelines for the development of future interventions on campus, all of them applied in the design proposal for the consolidation of a Library Complex in the heart of the university.
