Abstract

Head and neck cancer presents a challenge for both patients and healthcare professionals because it affects vital functions such as eating, communication, and overall quality of life. During cancer treatment, it is common to experience side effects that compromise oral health, such as mucositis, dry mouth (xerostomia), and oral infections; these issues can negatively impact patient well-being. We have designed this manual to be a practical tool that provides clear and effective guidelines for oral management during cancer therapy. Here, we describe preventive and corrective measures for oral care, aiming to reduce discomfort and complications associated with treatment. In addition, we include recommendations on adapted physical exercise, as physical activity has proven to be a valuable resource for improving functional capacity, strengthening physical and psychological health, and contributing to patient well-being.
