| dc.description | In this paper a review is made of the historical and sociological context in which the work of José Enrique Rodó was born, while it makes explicit the philosophical sources that influenced its development. Likewise, it makes a review of some of the most commonly accepted interpretations around the text, among them, the alleged against “nordomanía” of the Uruguayan.
