Abstract

Contemporary collective housing exhibits a worrying lack of design strategies aimed at fostering community and social interaction. This absence manifests itself in spatial configurations that prioritize efficiency and typological repetition, but which weaken the relationship between private and communal spaces, limiting opportunities for encounter and community building. By identifying and analyzing different design strategies that allow housing to reconnect with its communal dimension, using a methodology that articulates problem analysis, the construction of problem and solution trees, the study of project case studies, and the application of Bernard Leupen's theoretical model (1999), the aim is to propose design tools that contribute to reconfiguring living spaces as active settings for social interaction. The objective is to provide design criteria that strengthen social cohesion and foster community life through architectural design.
