Abstract

Many academics are genuinely and passionately dedicated to teaching within their universities; however, they do not share their theoretical and practical knowledge with other potential stakeholders. But, it is also true, there are those who try to do so by generating opinion columns that they publish in local and national periods. In turn, there are other groups who focus preferably on communicating the results of their research in so-called mainstream journals. From our perspective, the University must be made up of enthusiastic and involved people, not only with the transfer of knowledge within it, but, above all, to achieve a mix between the generation and communication of new knowledge. The renowned Latin American pedagogue and philosopher, Paulo Freire, defined it masterfully when he said: "While I teach I continue to search, to investigate. I teach because I seek, because I inquire, because I inquire and I inquire. I investigate to check, checking I intervene, intervening I educate and educate myself. I investigate to know what I do not yet know and to communicate or announce the novelty" () and, furthermore, he ratifies this by stating: "There is no teaching without research and no research without teaching".
