Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is transforming education by enhancing personalized learning, the use of simulations, and collaboration. This project analyzes its integration into natural science learning within a STEM approach through a GenAI-mediated Science Olympiad. In this context, high school students investigate environmental issues related to land use and nearby bodies of water in their schools and in different regions of the country. The research, with a qualitative and intervention approach, evaluates a STEM pedagogical strategy using GenAI to develop scientific and computational skills, structured in four phases: diagnosis, conception, design, and validation, fostering critical thinking, autonomy, and ethics. The results show a limited use of GenAI in advanced scientific tasks and in digital tools beyond chatbots like ChatGPT, highlighting the need to strengthen training in AI applied to school science. It is concluded that GenAI has great educational potential if its use is reoriented, promoting its integration as a key tool for scientific learning and skills development, beyond chatbots, exploring its full scope in STEM education.
