Cuando las grandes compañías toman la decisión de actualizar su plataforma de Telecomunicaciones, recurren a tecnologías que evolucionan día a día, así, con el fin de brindarle mayor movilidad a los trabajadores para que realicen sus funciones en cualquier momento y desde cualquier lugar se desarrolla el proyecto de Comunicaciones Unificadas, porque resulta fundamental para el desarrollo de la empresa brindar a sus empleados facilidades para interactuar entre sí, pues a pesar de tener todas la herramientas, la diversidad de plataformas en la mayoría de ocasiones genera que las respuestas se retrasen por complicarse el intercambio de mensajes con los demás trabajadores; éste integra los sistemas de Telecomunicaciones (videoconferencia, telefonía IP y correo electrónico) en una sola plataforma y facilita la manera de interactuar entre los funcionarios, trabajadores anexos a ésta (proveedores, contratistas y clientes) y demás individuos que se relacionen con la empresa para cumplir a cabalidad con los objetivos del negocio.
Abstract
When big companies take the decision to upgrade their telecommunications platform, they use current technologies that evolve day by day in order to provide greater mobility to workers to perform their duties at any time and from any place the Unified Communications project is developed because is fundamental to provide to the company employees tools to interact among them, despite having all the tools, most of the times the diversity of platforms generates the delay of responses due to the exchange of messages between the other workers. The Unified Communications project integrates the telecommunications systems (videoconferencing, IP telephony and email) in a single platform and eases the interaction among workers, suppliers, contractors and customers also between any other individuals related to the Company to fully comply with its business objectives.
The project is focused on increasing the productivity of workers, the idea is to perform everyday functions with ease and efficiency, allowing the availability of communication tools (instant messaging, email, videoconferencing and teleconferencing) at any place and time according to the employee’s needs, this leads to achieve their business objectives without wasting time on unnecessary travel (travel to other offices) and solve problems where the opinions of specialists are essential. Given the characteristics of the company, it is important to take into account that the ordinary functions of employees are different, aside from the managerial jobs, there are individuals in charge of technical operations in refineries, oil wells, fields and wherever the company operates.
The implementation of the project took around one year including the planning, solution and proposals analysis and the project´s execution times. To regulate the platforms, a Microsoft Lync Server tool is used, it allows to monitor the status and proper functioning of all the Front-end at an specific moment, the tool also provides indicators of each application (how many people access from inside and outside, how many messenger sessions are running, how many video conferences and tele conferences are made, how many people takes part on these conferences and for how long, which applications are not working properly and when, among others).
