Resumen
A lo largo de la historia del territorio en el que hoy yace la República de Colombia y
en el cual se tiene un horizonte temporal de presencia humana de 16.000 años
(MINTIC, 2009), las personas han experimentado grandes transformaciones en la
forma de comunicarse y de llevar información de un lugar a otro —entendiendo
información como la primera etapa y parte fundamental de todo proceso de
comunicación—, la cual durante un largo periodo de tiempo en Colombia y hasta
(1865) cuando se trasmitió el primer mensaje de telégrafo en la hoy sabana de
Bogotá D.C., no contaba con medios para ser transportada a distancias
significativas en poco tiempo.
En la época de la Conquista (finales de siglo XV y principios del siglo XVI) y
posteriormente en la época de la Colonia, la necesidad de crear mecanismos para
llevar y traer información entre pueblos, e intercambiar con otros países y
continentes, encuentra su solución más novedosa en las primeras infraestructuras
nacionales del hoy correo postal a través del Correo de las Indias (1538) (MINTIC,
2009), que aunque siendo un proceso manual, lento y poco eficiente visto desde el
siglo XXI, constituyó una forma novedosa y útil de comunicación, que junto al
posterior desarrollo de la imprenta, revolucionaría diversos campos, desde la
estrategia de guerra hasta la expansión de los derechos civiles.
Abstract
Throughout the history of the territory in which the Republic of Colombia lies today and
in which there is a time horizon of human presence of 16,000 years
(MINTIC, 2009), people have experienced great transformations in the
way of communicating and carrying information from one place to another - understanding
information as the first stage and a fundamental part of any process of
communication—, which for a long period of time in Colombia and up to
(1865) when the first telegraph message was transmitted in today's savannah of
Bogotá D.C., did not have the means to be transported over distances
significant in a short time.
At the time of the Conquest (late fifteenth century and early sixteenth century) and
later in the colonial era, the need to create mechanisms to
carry and bring information between peoples, and exchange with other countries and
continents, find your most innovative solution in the first infrastructures
nationals of today's postal mail through the Correo de las Indias (1538) (MINTIC,
2009), which although being a manual, slow and inefficient process seen from the
XXI century, was a novel and useful form of communication, which together with
subsequent development of the printing press, it would revolutionize various fields, from
war strategy until the expansion of civil rights.
