This educational research, within the framework of the knowledge economy, starts from the identification in the global context of low rates of generation of new knowledge and competitiveness in the country and in the region. Colombia is located in a not very prominent position according to the Global Competitiveness Index, and Bucaramanga, the region's capital city, only obtains a little more than 5 points out of 10 at the national level. It is important to point out the advances and efforts that are being made in this matter, which continue to appear insufficient on the world scene, mainly by pointing out the importance of greater articulation and integration of different sectors to achieve better results. This led to inquire about the dynamics of knowledge networks and the main actors in the region related to the generation of knowledge and competitiveness, finding that in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga there is a great dispersion of efforts, low levels of trust, a clear commitment to innovation is needed, there is no appropriate definition of actions on the part of universities, companies and the State, nor of their roles, there is a leakage of knowledge, loss of interest in regional participation, very few relationships, lack of project sustainability, low levels of knowledge management and learning, among others.spa
