dc.descriptionUsme es la localidad quinta de Bogotá y cuenta con una extensión total de 21.507 hectáreas, de las cuales 3.029 se clasifican en suelo urbano y 18.477 se clasifican en suelo rural, que es equivalente al 85,9% del total de la superficie de la zona. Se caracteriza además por ser la segunda localidad más grande de la capital, después de Sumapaz. La mayor parte de su territorio es montañoso y sus pisos térmicos varían de frío a páramo en la parte alta de los cerros surorientales. Sin embargo, de acuerdo a los resultados de la encuesta de calidad de vida 2007, la localidad de Usme registró que el 2,1% de la población se encuentra en miseria por NBI y el 11,7% se encuentra en pobreza por NBI. De igual manera, a partir de lo registrado con el Índice de Calidad de Vida (ICV), Usme es la tercera localidad con menor ICV, teniendo en cuenta que los factores considerados son el acceso y calidad de los servicios, educación y capital humano, tamaño y composición del hogar, y por último, la calidad de la vivienda, donde todos registraron índices bajos1.spa
