| dc.description.abstract | Rate of force development (RFD) is a critical neuromuscular capacity for explosive performance in soccer, directly influencing actions such as sprints, jumps, and changes of direction that occur within very short time windows. Velocity-based training (VBT) has emerged as a methodological alternative that allows real-time autoregulation of training load, overcoming the limitations of traditional percentage-based training (%1RM). Despite growing international evidence on the effects of VBT on variables such as maximal strength, power, and jump performance, there remains a notable scarcity of studies examining its specific effect on RFD in university soccer populations, particularly within the Colombian and Latin American context. This project aims to measure the effects of a velocity-based training program on RFD in male university soccer players from the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC), Tunja campus. A quantitative, descriptive-scope, non-experimental study is proposed, with pretest-posttest measurements, in which participants will be assigned to an intervention (VBT) group and a control group. RFD will be assessed through Countermovement Jump (CMJ) and Squat Jump (SJ) tests, while training load will be controlled based on intra-set velocity loss thresholds. Results are expected to show significant improvements in RFD in the intervention group, contributing original and transferable scientific evidence for Colombian university sports training, as well as a methodological reference for implementing velocity-monitoring technologies in resource-limited settings. | |
