Abstract

This report presents a progress plan designed to streamline access for supplies—both large and small—to complex areas of the Cerrejón mining project, where Newrest Colombia serves as a key supporter. The idea stems from an honest look at the current situation, highlighting weak points in logistics, operational failures, and challenges in supply tracking. Solutions are compared, explaining each step with theoretical foundations and real data drawn from observing and analyzing the history of the project. The plan uses examples from other countries with experience in mining logistics—such as Australia, Canada, and Chile—taking the best and adapting them to Colombia, in addition to the results of a test that showed the idea works well in practice. The report is organized according to the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) method and is based on ISO 9001:2015 standards, adding progress metrics (KPIs) for ongoing monitoring. By implementing these improvements, the goal is not only to improve the delivery of supplies, but also to help the company better respond to the challenges of logistics at mining operations far from the city.
