La práctica empresarial en Destiny Outsourcing Services S.A.S. abordó la ineficiencia del proceso manual de prospección de transportistas especializados en carga portuaria (drayage) para el mercado estadounidense, una tarea que consumía entre 30 y 60 minutos por ciudad y agotaba los créditos del directorio especializado sin dejar registro estructurado de la información. Mediante una investigación aplicada de enfoque mixto, se desarrolló el sistema “Drayage Harvester”, un script de automatización en Python que integra Selenium para extracción web y la API de Notion para la gestión centralizada de datos. Como resultado se redujo del 95% al 98% del tiempo operativo activo, se ahorró el 100% de los créditos del Drayage Directory, y se registraron más de 3.000 carriers distribuidos en 90 ciudades, pasando de extraer aproximadamente 30 transportistas por ciudad a capturar todos los disponibles. La herramienta se implementó exitosamente en el portátil de la oficina y fue acogida positivamente por el equipo operativo y la gerencia. La experiencia confirma que la automatización de procesos logísticos genera impactos tangibles en eficiencia, reducción de costos y optimización de recursos, y evidencia la importancia de integrar competencias técnicas, analíticas y gerenciales en la formación del profesional de Negocios Internacionales.
Abstract
The internship at Destiny Outsourcing Services S.A.S. addressed the inefficiency of the manual prospecting process for specialized port cargo carriers (drayage) in the U.S. market, a task that consumed between 30 and 60 minutes per city and exhausted credits from the specialized directory without leaving a structured record of the data. Through applied mixed-methods research, the “Drayage Harvester” system was developed, a Python automation script integrating Selenium for web scraping and the Notion API for centralized data management. As a result, active operating time was reduced by 95% to 98%, 100% of Drayage Directory credits were saved, and more than 3.000 carriers across 90 cities were registered, moving from extracting approximately 30 carriers per city manually to capturing all available data. The tool was successfully deployed on the office laptop and was positively received by the operations team and management. This experience confirms that logistics process automation generates tangible impacts on efficiency, cost reduction, and resource optimization, and highlights the importance of integrating technical, analytical, and managerial competencies in the education of International Business professionals.
