El proyecto propone la restauración y ampliación del centro cultural Ituango, a partir de la transformación del antiguo Colegio Diocesano, un edificio patrimonial que hace parte de la historia y la memoria del pueblo. La propuesta inicia ante la necesidad de un espacio adecuado para el desarrollo cultural, educativo y social de la comunidad. El objetivo principal es preservar el valor del edificio existente, rescatar su fachada principal y su materialidad original, adaptándolo a nuevas dinámicas culturales que respondan a las necesidades actuales del territorio. Entre las estrategias se destaca la conectividad con el parque de la plazuela, la conservación de patios interiores, la apertura del edificio hacia el espacio público y el paisaje, el reaprovechamiento de la cancha existente, la apertura de la esquina y la creación de un zócalo comercial. El resultado busca consolidar un espacio digno, vivo y representativo, donde la historia, la memoria y la cultura Ituanguina encuentre un lugar para seguir creciendo.
Abstract
The project proposes the restoration and expansion of the Ituango Cultural Center, through the transformation of the former Diocesan School, a heritage building that embodies the town’s history and memory. The proposal arises from the lack of an adequate space for cultural, educational, and social development within the community. The main goal is to preserve the building’s heritage value, restore its main façade and original materials, and adapt it to new cultural dynamics that meet the current needs of the territory. Key strategies include connecting the project with La Plazuela Park, preserving the interior courtyards, opening the building towards public space and the landscape, reusing the existing sports court, opening the corner, and creating a commercial plinth. The project aims to create a dignified and vibrant space, where Ituango’s history, memory, and culture can continue to thrive.
