Abstract

Concern over the loss of a loved one leads us to search for resources that allow us to say goodbye. One of them, and the closest to our culture, is the vigil which leads us to the acceptance and attenuation of the feelings of pain and sadness that have arisen in this situation. The objective of this project is to dignify this process, specifically in commune 1 of Bucaramanga, where there is currently no offer of this type of service. For this, work was carried out in four phases that included: A previous study of the architectural object as a whole, aesthetic, symbolic and functional, a preliminary investigation of the demand and supply of these services in the area or its surroundings, including direct observation of funeral homes. existing; a documentation on the theoretical and symbolic part in order to conceptually prepare the final design; and based on the observation of the processes from the balm, the administrative aspect to the attention to the user from the human point of view, a design is proposed that, on the one hand, tries to improve what is observed and on the other hand aims to comply with the stated objective. A final design of a funeral home for Bucaramanga commune 1 is obtained, where aesthetic, symbolic and functional aspects are balanced.
