Preescolar en el municipio de Floridablanca, Santander sector Mediterrané

Abstract

In a city of high population growth such as Floridablanca, meeting the demand of preschool institutions is a priority regardless of whether they are deficient. Nowadays one can observe the tendency of taking abandoned spaces or old houses and adapting them to serve a use for which they were not initially designed. This has created a series of “garage” preschools which do not meet the minimum comfort requirements for the correct development of children. The development of this project starts with an investigation over several educational theories taking Piaget’s Theory of Learning (1951) as main guide. This theory allowed us to understand how children, during different stages of their development relate to the environment and lead their own learning process. This way adapting the children's needs into an architectural space with a close relationship with nature and countryside. Consequently, creating an educational environment suitable for experimenting, socializing, learning and an appropriate development of children as individuals.
