Apoyo Técnico a Proyectos de la Secretaría de Infraestructura Pública y Movilidad del Municipio de Paipa

Abstract

This internship was carried out at the Secretariat of Infrastructure of the Municipality of Paipa, Boyacá, between July and October 2025, as a degree requirement for the Civil Engineering program. The main purpose of this experience was to strengthen the intern’s professional training through the practical application of technical and administrative knowledge within a public-sector environment. The internship was developed through active participation in key municipal infrastructure projects, including the maintenance and improvement of the urban road network, structural maintenance of the El Bosque Sports Complex, the construction of a vehicular and pedestrian bridge connecting the rural areas of Mirabal and Río Arriba, and the implementation of a sanitation project in the rural area of Sativa.

The aim of the internship was to provide technical and supervisory support to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, contributing to the monitoring, control, and proper execution of public works. The general method combined office-based and field activities, such as technical site inspections, verification of construction procedures, material control, preparation of technical reports and site logs, and participation in technical and community meetings. The results highlight improved technical oversight of construction activities, optimization of institutional processes, and positive impacts on mobility, connectivity, and sanitary conditions for the local community. This internship proved to be relevant by addressing real infrastructure needs of the municipality and had a meaningful scope by generating social, institutional, and environmental benefits, while providing comprehensive professional training for future engineering practice.
