The aim of this research was to describe and analyze the relationship between impulsivity and criminal behavior in pathological gamblers, through a mixed methodology composed of a predictive-transversal design and an explanatory design with latent variables. There were 100 pathological gamblers who were deprived of their liberty and those convicted in a prison system in Bogota, who were given a screening tool for problems with the game (NODS), a Personal and Criminal Data Questionnaire, the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11), the Impulsive Behavior Scale (UPPS-P), the Retrospective Behavior Self-Control Scale (RBS) and the Monetary Choice Missionary (MCQ). Results and conclusions were obtained: (a) consumption of psychoactive substances (PS), crimes against property, gambling activity in prison and high scores on unplanned impulsivity, positive urgency, sensations seeking and property deviance; (b) good internal consistency of the instruments, except in the MCQ, and a factorial structure that supports the original structure; (c) significant interrelations between impulsivity measures; and (d) predictive relationships between measures of impulsivity and the criminal acts in the last year, the projection towards the future with respect to gambling and the commission of crimes after the stay in prison, and the consumption of PS. These findings serve as a basis for the development of guidelines for prison treatment.spa
