El documento expone el desarrollo de un proyecto de grado en el que se plantea el diseño arquitectónico de una institución educativa intercultural de mediana escala ubicada en el municipio de Manaure, La Guajira, territorio donde históricamente han coexistido la comunidad indígena Wayuu y la comunidad Arijuna; bajo esta perspectiva, se identificó como problemática principal la falta de infraestructura educativa que respondiera de manera integral a las condiciones climáticas extremas del entorno desértico y a las dinámicas culturales propias intercultural, así mismo las edificaciones existentes replicaban modelos estandarizados ajenos al territorio, presentando limitaciones en ventilación natural, confort térmico y flexibilidad espacial, lo cual afecta negativamente en la calidad ambiental, la permanencia escolar y la apropiación por parte de la comunidad; por consiguiente, la propuesta planteó el diseño de una institución educativa intercultural de mediana escala con capacidad para 290 estudiantes, planteada como un espacio académico, al igual que como un lugar de encuentro, dialogo y construcción colectiva, de modo que el enfoque arquitectónico articuló la identidad cultural, la adaptación climática y la eficiencia funcional mediante una organización espacial modular y flexible capaz de albergar diversas prácticas pedagógicas y comunitarias, de este modo la propuesta se sustentó en una configuración que favoreció la ventilación natural y el control solar junto con una disposición fragmentada que integró espacios construidos y abiertos, incorporando patios, corredores y vacíos como elementos estructuradores del conjunto, lo que permitió incluir estrategias pasivas de iluminación y ventilación, el uso de superficies permeables y criterios de materialidad coherentes con el entorno, configurando finalmente una arquitectura permeable orientada a fortalecer la relación entre comunidad, territorio y educación.
Abstract
The document presented the development of a degree project in which the architectural design of a medium-scale intercultural educational institution was proposed in the municipality of Manaure, La Guajira, a territory historically characterized by the coexistence of the Wayuu indigenous community and the Arijuna population; in this regard, the main issue identified was the lack of educational infrastructure capable of responding comprehensively to both the extreme climatic conditions of the desert environment and the cultural dynamics inherent to an intercultural context, furthermore, it was observed that existing buildings replicated standardized models unrelated to the territory, showing limitations in ventilation, thermal comfort, and spatial flexibility, which negatively affected environmental quality, school retention, and community appropriation; consequently, the project proposed the design of an institution with an approximate capacity for 290 students, conceived not only as an academic facility but also as a space for meeting, dialogue, and collective construction, thus, the architectural approach articulated cultural identity, climatic adaptation, and functional efficiency through a modular and flexible spatial organization capable of accommodating diverse pedagogical and community practices, likewise, the proposal was based on a configuration that enhanced natural ventilation and solar control along with a fragmented layout that integrated built and open spaces, incorporating courtyards, corridors, and voids as structuring elements of the complex, which allowed the inclusion of passive lighting and ventilation strategies, the use of permeable surfaces, and materiality criteria consistent with the territorial context, ultimately shaping a permeable architecture aimed at strengthening the relationship between community, territory, and education.
