Este informe presenta el Plan de Mejora Estratégica para Destiny Logistics, una freight brokerage (agencia de carga) especializada en el corredor logístico norteamericano. El problema central identificado es la dependencia crítica de procesos manuales y sistemas dispares (Excel), lo que limita su capacidad de escalar y la expone a un alto riesgo de error documental y a la amenaza de la sustitución digital. La metodología empleada fue un enfoque mixto descriptivo-aplicado, utilizando el análisis PESTEL y DOFA para diagnosticar la necesidad, seguido de un análisis cuantitativo para establecer indicadores clave de desempeño (KPIs) y justificar el retorno de inversión. El principal resultado es la validación de la urgencia estratégica del desarrollo de Destiny, un Sistema de Gestión de Transporte (TMS) propietario. Se proyecta que el TMS reducirá el tiempo de cotización en un 92% (de 52 a 4 minutos) y disminuirá la tasa de error documental en un 87%.
La conclusión principal es que la inversión en tecnología es un imperativo de supervivencia y crecimiento, ya que permite a la empresa codificar su know-how (saber como) transfronterizo y asegurar su posición como un 3PL competitivo. La experiencia subraya que la transformación digital es la única estrategia ofensiva viable para una empresa de logística en crecimiento.
Abstract
This report presents the Strategic Improvement Plan for Destiny Logistics, a freight brokerage specializing in the North American logistics corridor. The core issue identified is the critical reliance on manual processes and disparate systems (Excel), which limits its ability to scale and exposes it to a high risk of document errors and the threat of digital substitution. The methodology employed was a mixed descriptive-applied approach, utilizing PESTEL and SWOT analysis to diagnose the need, followed by a quantitative analysis to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and justify the return on investment. The main outcome is the validation of the strategic urgency of developing Destiny, a proprietary Transportation Management System (TMS). The TMS is projected to reduce quote time by 92% (from 52 to 4 minutes) and decrease the document error rate by 87%. The main conclusion is that investment in technology is imperative for survival and growth, as it allows the company to codify its cross-border know-how and secure its position as a competitive 3PL. Experience underscores that digital transformation is the only viable offensive strategy for a growing logistics company.
