Legado Juridico Civilizaciones Antiguas: Roma, Grecia y Egipto

Abstract

This document aims to systematize the experience acquired during the international academic mobility carried out between November 15 and 29, 2025. The Universidad Santo Tomás offered this opportunity with the purpose of enabling Law students to explore the origins and foundations of Western legal systems. Throughout the journey, iconic landmarks of humanity and sites of historical and legal significance were visited. In Rome, the group explored the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon of Agrippa, and several museums that preserve the legacy of Roman Law, considered a fundamental pillar of the Colombian legal system. In Athens, places such as the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora were recognized as settings where democracy emerged and the first models of political, social, and legal organization were established, alongside Greek mythology as the central cultural belief of the empire. In Egypt, millenary temples and the Egyptian Museum were visited, showcasing one of the oldest legal systems in human civilization. Finally, in Madrid, research was conducted on the functioning of the Spanish legislative power and its influence on legal processes in Latin America. This experience allowed for a deeper understanding and analysis, from both practical and theoretical perspectives, of how the earliest civilizations laid the foundations of modern law and how their principles and policies remain relevant in contemporary legal systems despite the passage of time.
