Abstract

Throughout this work, the report of the development of the business practice will be reflected, being this one of the degree options endorsed by the Universidad Santo Tomás to qualify for the degree of Professional in International Business. The business practice was carried out in Transcointer S.A.S., a company dedicated to foreign trade consulting and freight forwarding; where the main tasks that required more time and effort by the members of the Operational Department team were identified, which were the search for national land transport quotations, the registration and updating of clients' documents and the search for supporting documents of the operations lost in the different couriers. In view of the aforementioned problems, a filter system was proposed to reduce the number of requests for national inland transportation quotations issued by the Commercial Department, establishing strategies such as that the customer's initial quotation should indicate full-quota national inland freight values for commonly used routes, and that if the customer requested a quotation for a consolidation or for a specific route different from those offered, the operation should first be confirmed without possible modifications in the quantities or routes. Regarding the problem of records and document updates, the creation of a document specifying each of the requirements for each operation was proposed, so that both the client and the company could follow up on them. Finally, in order to keep the corporate Google drive more organized, a checklist with the supporting documents of the operation was proposed.
