La educación cristiana de la familia y su influencia en el desarrollo espiritual de los hijos

Abstract

This thesis aims to analyze Christian education in the home as a fundamental setting for the spiritual formation of children. From a qualitative, descriptive, and interpretive approach, it studies how parents teach and model Christian values ​​such as love, respect, and solidarity, the difficulties they face in this process, and the progress they perceive in their children's spiritual development and Christian identity. The information was collected primarily through interviews with Christian parents, supplemented by surveys. From the analysis of the responses, three central themes were identified: the pedagogical strategies used at home for teaching the faith, the challenges posed by the current sociocultural context, and the transformations observed in the spiritual lives of their children. The results show that the personal example of parents, family Bible studies, sharing of faith experiences, and practical service activities constitute privileged means for transmitting Christian values ​​in everyday home life. Likewise, difficulties associated with lack of time, the influence of the media, and the disinterest or resistance of some children and adolescents to religious content are evident, requiring parents to be creative, patient, and better integrate faith into daily life. Despite these challenges, participants recognize significant progress in their children's understanding of the faith, internalization of values, and the development of a stronger Christian identity. The study reaffirms the family as the "domestic church" and the primary space for discipleship, and offers theological and pedagogical elements that can guide formative processes and future research on Christian education in the home.
