En la arquitectura contemporánea, uno de los mayores desafíos es lograr la continuidad de la memoria edificada en un entorno urbano en constante evolución. La desconexión entre las nuevas intervenciones y las estructuras preexistentes ha resultado en interrupciones que afectan la coherencia visual y tectónica del espacio urbano. Este trabajo de grado se enfoca en desarrollar estrategias de diseño que permitan lograr la continuidad de la memoria edificada mediante la integración efectiva de las superficies tectónicas en el diseño arquitectónico contemporáneo.
El problema que se aborda es la interrupción de la continuidad de la memoria arquitectónica, debido a la falta de integración de las superficies tectónicas. Estas superficies, que representan la piel y estructura del edificio, se vuelven determinantes al conectar las nuevas intervenciones con lo existente, permitiendo así una relación armónica entre lo contemporáneo y lo existente.
La metodología empleada se fundamenta en un análisis de referentes bibliográficos los cuales son: “Las variaciones de la identidad” de Carlos Martí Aris, “El fuego y su protección” haciendo énfasis en el segundo sistema “El Estilo” de Gottfried Semper, “El principio del revestimiento” de Adolf Loos, “Ornamento y delito” de Adolf Loos, “Arquitectura ritos y ritmos” de Joaquín Arnau Amo, los cuales aportan fundamentos teóricos esenciales en esta investigación.
El análisis se lleva a cabo a través de tres casos de estudio significativos los cuales son: La ampliación del Museo del Prado, El Ayuntamiento de Murcia y el Museo Nacional de Arte Romano, todos diseñados por Rafael Moneo, donde se estudia cómo la integración de las superficies tectónicas ha permitido mantener la memoria arquitectónica y construir una narrativa coherente entre las preexistencias y lo contemporáneo.
El aporte principal de esta investigación son estrategias de diseño que garanticen la continuidad de la memoria mediante la integración tectónica, promoviendo una narrativa arquitectónica continua y coherente.
Abstract
In contemporary architecture, one of the greatest challenges is to achieve the continuity of the built memory in a constantly evolving urban environment. The disconnection between new interventions and pre-existing structures has resulted in interruptions that affect the visual and tectonic coherence of urban space. This thesis focuses on developing design strategies that allow achieving the continuity of the built memory through the effective integration of tectonic surfaces in contemporary architectural design.
The problem addressed is the interruption of the continuity of architectural memory, due to the lack of integration of tectonic surfaces. These surfaces, which represent the skin and structure of the building, become decisive in connecting the new interventions with the existing, thus allowing a harmonious relationship between the contemporary and the existing.
The methodology used is based on an analysis of bibliographical references such as: “Variations of Identity” by Carlos Martí Aris, “Fire and its Protection” with emphasis on the second system “Style” by Gottfried Semper, “The Principle of Coating” by Adolf Loos, “Ornament and Crime” by Adolf Loos, “Architecture, Rites and Rhythms” by Joaquin Arnau Amo, which provide essential theoretical foundations for this research.
The analysis is carried out through three significant case studies which are: The extension of the Prado Museum, the Murcia City Hall and the National Museum of Roman Art, all designed by Rafael Moneo, where it is studied how the integration of tectonic surfaces has allowed to maintain the architectural memory and build a coherent narrative between the pre-existing and the contemporary.
The main contribution of this research is the formulation of design strategies that ensure the continuity of memory through adequate tectonic integration, promoting a continuous and coherent architectural narrative.
