    This research aims to develop a demand forecasting application for Conalca S.A.S., with the purpose of optimizing installed capacity planning in Colombian seaports and enhancing logistical and commercial decision-making. The project arises from the need to implement technological tools that enable demand anticipation, improve operational efficiency, and reduce uncertainty in resource management. To achieve this, the study is based on the comparative application of three mathematical forecasting models—linear regression, weighted moving average, and double exponential smoothing—selected for their ability to capture different time-series behaviors and deliver accurate and reliable results. These models are integrated into a custom computational application designed to automate forecasting processes, facilitate interpretation, and generate visual analytical reports for strategic decision-making. The development of this system seeks to bridge statistical theory with business practice, allowing Conalca to optimize resource utilization, align service capacity with projected demand, and strengthen customer service through validated predictive information. As an outcome, the project aims to enhance operational efficiency, increase organizational competitiveness, and contribute academically to the field of quantitative modeling in port logistics. According to (Chopra & Meindl, 2019), demand forecasting is a cornerstone of supply chain planning, as it enables companies to anticipate resource needs and reduce costs associated with uncertainty. Similarly, (Silver, Pyke, & Peterson, 2016) highlight that appropriate statistical models can significantly improve the accuracy of projections and operational performance. In the Colombian context, (Vidal et al., 2018) emphasize the importance of integrating quantitative methodologies in logistics management as a key factor for efficient project prioritization and execution. In summary, this study represents an applied effort to translate mathematical forecasting techniques into the real context of Colombian port logistics, providing an innovative technological tool that enhances decision-making, operational efficiency, and competitiveness for Conalca S.A.S. in an increasingly complex and uncertain logistics environment.

    This applied research project was carried out in a distribution center located in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, belonging to the agro-industrial sector, specifically in tea production. The order preparation process presents operational inefficiencies due to a mixed storage scheme and item-by-item picking, which results in long travel distances and extended times during the picking process. The main objective of the study was to design picking strategies that improve order preparation, reducing operation times and travel distances within the distribution center. To achieve this, a diagnosis of the current process and a characterization of the distribution center were conducted, complemented by historical demand analysis. Subsequently, strategies were designed based on logistical criteria, and a multi-criteria evaluation was applied using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to select the most suitable alternative. As a result, five strategies were defined, based on slotting and picking techniques, integrated with ABC classification, demand frequency, type of collection (by order, batching, by zones), and layout zoning. The evaluation identified the most efficient strategy in terms of reducing order preparation times, minimizing operator travel distances, improving order consolidation, streamlining the product retrieval process, and achieving a more effective organization of the storage system. In conclusion, the study’s findings provide practical solutions to improve the picking process in companies within the agro-industrial sector, contributing to more efficient logistics management and better adaptability to real market demand.

    The present degree project addresses the logistic challenge of inefficient management of the distribution centers, a critical problem that directly impacts the productivity and competitiveness of the companies. Specifically, this investigation focuses on the distribution center, of a leading company in the agroindustrial sector, with the objective of designing a slotting strategy that optimizes their operations of receipt, picking and dispatch. The investigation was developed in three methodological phases. Initially, an exhausting diagnosis of the current storage process was done, that revealed the dependence of an manual system based on an Excel file, which generates disorder, inconsistency of data and prolonged times of research. Subsequently, a review of the scientific literature to document the relevant slotting strategies and their application was done. In this phase, it was confirmed that a small percentage of products (Class A) is responsible for most of the volume dispatched, a finding that highlights the importance of applying the Pareto Principle. Based on the diagnosis and review of the literature, three slotting strategies were designed: a hybrid one (ABC + dedicated), one called correlated and clustering, and a third one that integrates ABD, correlation and demand. The results of this project show that the implementation of a structured slotting strategy can increase the operative efficiency and reduce costs. The solution of this proposal not only directly addresses the deficiency of the actual Distribution Center object of study, but also offers a roadmap to optimize the location of the inventory without requiring significant infrastructure changes, guaranteeing picking improvement and a smarter warehouse management.

    Liquefied Petroleum Gas, once the dominant household fuel in Colombia, has regained prominence in the national energy transition due to its high calorific value and logistical advantages. This thesis examines the operational risks involved in LPG storage and distribution, focusing on Colombian regulatory frameworks, safety protocols, and best practices. Through a qualitative and documentary approach, the study reviews legal, technical, and academic sources to identify key logistical challenges, assess the effectiveness of current regulations, and explore emerging technologies such as IoT sensors and intelligent monitoring systems. This study presents various tactics aimed at optimizing security, operational performance, and sustainability within the supply chain, promoting a more conscious and responsible management of liquefied petroleum gas. The need to strengthen the preventive culture, optimize the use of technologies, and encourage coordination among regulators, companies, and sector actors is emphasized.

    The objective of this study is to evaluate the logistic location of establishment D1, located in Bogotá D.C., Colombia. For this purpose, a factor rating model will be applied together with the central place theory, by means of spatial analysis using the freely available QGIS geographic information system. The valuation of the establishment in its current location will allow drawing cartographic conclusions based on factors such as land use, road network, endowments, transportation and competition. As for the central location analysis, a comparison will be made through areas of influence and isochrones, allowing to determine the scope of the business in relation to its direct competitors. Likewise, a methodology applicable to different companies interested in opening new locations is proposed.

    Service Logistics in Sports Centers: Purpose and Scope of the Study This research analyzes the importance of efficient service logistics in sports centers to ensure service quality and user satisfaction. Logistics is not limited to the management of physical resources, but also encompasses space management, activity scheduling, facility maintenance, customer service, and reservation and payment management. The strategic coordination of these elements seeks to offer a comprehensive and satisfactory experience to users. The study highlights that service quality is a key factor, with aspects such as hygiene, safety, facility condition, and personalized service being highly valued. The study emphasizes the role of digitalization in optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and personalizing service through technological tools. It also emphasizes the importance of sustainability through the adoption of environmentally responsible practices and the rational use of resources. Continuous training of customer service staff is considered essential to maintaining high service standards. Finally, strategies such as the implementation of digital systems, sustainable partnerships, ongoing training, and the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate logistics performance are recommended. Well-structured logistics has a positive impact on competitiveness, sustainability, and user satisfaction.

    Last mile logistics is a crucial component in supply chains, especially in the distribution to the final consumer. This process varies significantly among different economic sectors such as food, retail, automotive, etc. In the automotive sector, last mile logistics presents unique challenges due to the need for auto parts and after-sales maintenance, which can generate dissatisfaction among customers due to different factors that can cause a delay in the delivery of their vehicle. In Bogota, in the neighborhood of 7 de Agosto, there is an important cluster for the acquisition of auto parts, with around 2,000 dealers and importers. The distribution channels of these stores include direct sales, telephone/WhatsApp and e-commerce, each of these channels with their own advantages and limitations, the main axis of last mile logistics in this sector is the speed of delivery, and it is a critical factor for positive or negative customer satisfaction.     The following text aimed to prepare a document that considers the two possible scenarios for the supply and supply chains of essential consumer goods, under normal or atypical conditions, as well as the strategies used in both circumstances. Through the methodology of carrying out a consultation of various bibliographic sources, and a subsequent presentation and discussion of concepts. In accordance with the above statement, the work presents 4 sections, which are: context for the reader with an essential concepts and background literature; the compilation of technical concepts and characterization of atypical situations regarding the operation of logistics and the precisions involved with essential consumer goods of first necessity in some international cases and mainly within the Colombian territory; the quantity based impact of the defined goods in terms of import and production during the Covid-19 pandemic; and lastly, to produce a list of applicable strategies for these type of products, based on the compilation of information from disaster scenarios that address humanitarian aid, war conflicts or health related emergencies linked to diseases or industrial accidents, taking into consideration their feasibility and ease of implementation, as well as its impact to mitigate the negative effects on the logistics of the supply chain.

    This project was carried out in the city of Cali, in the facilities of the company COOMEVA EPS SA, organization of the cooperative group COOMEVA that is in charge of the administration of the health resources of a part of the Colombian labor population and their families. In the contributory and subsidized regime. The main objective of the work is to analyze all the activities of the contracting process of providers in the area related to the provider, which deals with everything related to contracting to attend the health services required by the affiliated population in the city of Cali. , seeking to improve the process in the times of elaboration of the contracts to provide a better service to the affiliates. To make the analysis of the process, the documentation of the same and all its activities were searched in the documentary support software of the quality management system of the company called Daruma, in order to carry out the gathering of the required information such as tasks, times, resources, suppliers, technological tools, documents, among others. With the information obtained, the current situation and the situation of possible improvement scenarios were modeled to compare the results and find opportunities for adjustments and corrections in all the activities of the process, using the process simulation software called Arena. As a result of the process, it was found that there are activities that can be merged with others, there are activities that can be developed efficiently using technological resources and trained and competent personnel to reduce the management time of the hiring in the relationship process with the provider.
