| dc.description.abstract | This research aimed to understand the narratives of recreational runners aged 30 to 38 regarding the relationship between music and the practice of running. Using a qualitative approach and based on the Hermeneutic Narrative Inquiry Proposal (PINH) developed by Quintero Mejía (2021), narratives were collected through semi-structured interviews and a focus group, and analyzed using matrices focused on spatiality, temporality, significant events, and narrative forces. The findings reveal that music is not merely an accessory but an active element within the running experience, as it modulates motivation, perceived effort, and emotional regulation. Narratives showed that melodies and rhythms help resignify urban spaces, give meaning to sporting milestones, and connect memories with future projects, thus shaping both personal and collective storylines. These experiences are expressed through commitments, metaphors, symbols, and emotions—narrative forces that are directly related to psychological well-being dimensions such as self-acceptance, autonomy, positive relationships, purpose in life, and personal growth. In conclusion, music emerges as a mediator between body, time, and space, contributing to the construction of subjectivities and the strengthening of psychological wellbeing among recreational runners. This study contributes to the field of sports psychology and narrative studies by showing how everyday practices—such as running with music— become scenarios for self-regulation and meaning-making in contemporary life. Keywords: Narratives, music, running, subjectivity, psychological well-being. | |
