Ítem Evaluación del impacto ambiental al recurso hídrico generado por acciones antrópicas en la micro cuenca del Rio Tibu, Norte de Santander, Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2016) Camacho Galvis, Jenny Paola; Universidad Santo TomásÍtem Análisis Cualitativo de los Factores de Riesgo que Pueden Incidir en la Pérdida de la Sostenibilidad Ambiental y Ecológica de un Tramo del Caño Vaneguero en Zona Urbana del Municipio de Arauca, Departamento de Arauca(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Alvarado Reina, Lina María; Urina, Brinton; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001498428This study explores the environmental sustainability and risk factors affecting the micro watershed of the Caño Vaneguero, a strategic hydrological body that traverses the urban area of Arauca, Colombia. Through a qualitative evaluation, the research identifies anthropogenic pressures such as unregulated human settlements, land use change, and forced migration, which have intensified ecological degradation and increased vulnerability to hydrometeorological risks. The proximity of the water body to densely populated areas amplifies exposure to flooding, contamination, and biodiversity loss. Institutional roles—especially those of environmental and governmental authorities—are critically analyzed regarding their responsibilities in watershed planning, risk management, and ecological restoration. The study underscores the need for integrated, participatory governance and the implementation of restoration actions aligned with the ecological functionality and urban resilience of the watershed. A sustainable future for Caño Vaneguero depends on coordinated action between authorities and communities. Strengthening governance and restoring ecosystem services is vital to reduce vulnerability and safeguard the socio-ecological integrity of this urban watershed.Ítem Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura sobre las Estrategias de Gestión para el Manejo Ambiental de los Contaminantes Emergentes en el Agua.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Benítez Mejía, Joan Camilo; Carvajal Flórez, Elizabeth; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001347928; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=PNknL9MAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4850-8850This study focused on analyzing environmental management strategies for emerging pollutants (EC) in water at a global level, with the aim of contributing to the development of more effective and sustainable practices in the protection and preservation of water resources in Colombia. To achieve this objective, a systematic review of the literature was carried out, where treatments used in different regions of the world were identified and evaluated, the impact of ECs on water quality was examined, and environmental education and community engagement initiatives were reviewed. The main findings revealed a diversity of approaches and technologies used for the management of EC in water, highlighting the efficacy of advanced oxidation methods and the importance of considering the urban water cycle in the management of these pollutants. ECs were found to have a significant impact on water quality, underscoring the need to address this issue holistically. In addition, lessons learned and best practices in environmental education and community participation were identified, highlighting the importance of involving society in the protection of water resources. These findings have important implications for the design and implementation of water protection policies and programs in Colombia, as well as for future research in the field of EC environmental management.Ítem Revisión Bibliográfica sobre la Fitorremediación para la Recuperación Aguas y Suelos Expuestos al Mercurio por la Minería en Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Hernández Rodríguez, Juan Camilo; Romero Torres, Nancy Juliana; García Murillo, Paulo Germán; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000295612; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001520937; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=60GkRtsAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4086-0489nowing the current problem in the country regarding the degradation of ecosystem services due to the use of heavy metals for gold extraction, in this case mercury, and the negative impact that this substance produces on the soil, water, air, and living beings , there is the opportunity to carry out a bibliographic review on the phytoremediation technique for the recovery of water and soil where waste is deposited in an uncontrolled manner with the mercury ion, and how this biological strategy, whose main source is plants, They remove, stabilize, transfer and in particular can degrade this heavy metal from soils, water and different sediments through their system and with the help of microorganisms. For this reason, through the systematization of experiences of the five times by Óscar Jara, a broad overview is offered of the process carried out to establish polluting load goals for the period 2021, by the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the North and East of the Amazon (CDA), based on the procedure established in the Decree 1076 of 2015, title 9, chapter 7 section 3, carrying out the reconstruction of the process experienced and the critical analysis regarding the process of the five-year period 2016 – 2020, as well as the identification of the errors and lessons learned, which would allow these processes to be strengthened and generate practical recommendations to Environmental Authorities and users, to promote the decontamination of water bodies and make viable the potential use of water sources as an agent of economic growth and social well-being in the municipalities of Inírida, Barrancominas, Mitú and San José del Guaviare.Ítem Sentencia T622-2016 de 2016: Un Análisis de sus Efectos Hasta la Actualidad en Materia Socioambiental(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-04-11) Arias López, Pamela; Duarte Garzón, Omar Eutimio; Rodríguez Murcia, Sonia Yamile; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000467090; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001551940; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=FMRFO-cAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0567-4149; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1124-6180The Atrato River, located in the department of Chocó, stands out as one of Colombia's main tributaries and is vital for the region's biodiversity. However, it faces significant challenges due to decades of public order problems, primarily related to increasing deforestation and mechanized illegal mining. These activities have severely disrupted the area's natural dynamics and have limited essential ecosystem services for local communities. In response to this critical situation, the Center for Social Justice Studies "Tierra Digna" took legal action on behalf of several communities, directing their action against the Presidency of the Republic and other relevant actors. This led to the landmark ruling T622-2016, which recognized the Atrato River as a rights-bearing entity and established thirteen orders aimed at its recovery and protection. These measures involved collaboration with local communities and focused on biocultural aspects, with specific deadlines to achieve tangible results. For this reason, this study evaluated the effectiveness of this ruling in the socio-environmental scope of the Atrato River basin. However, significant deficiencies were identified in its implementation, primarily due to the lack of allocation of specific resources and the lack of coordination among relevant state institutions. This lack of action has resulted in almost no progress in complying with the ruling, underscoring the urgent need for rigorous monitoring and control of the proposed activities. Only through constant monitoring will significant long-term changes in the health and well-being of the Atrato River basin be evidenced.Ítem Revisión y propuesta de mejora sobre mecanismos de participación ciudadana en el ordenamiento y gestión del recurso hídrico en Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-01-22) Díaz Álvarez, Mateo; Saldarriaga Ramírez, CarolinaIn this research, a literature analysis was conducted on mechanisms of citizen participation in the management and regulation of water resources in Colombia, with the aim of identifying and examining the existing citizen participation mechanisms in water management. Using the PESTEL analysis (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal), several key challenges were identified that hinder effective citizen participation in the management and regulation of water resources in Colombia. Among the identified challenges are the lack of updated and accessible information, limited coordination among the various actors involved in water management, scarce citizen training on related issues, and lack of inclusivity in decision making processes; these challenges are presented in a context marked by climate change, growing water demand, and socio-economic and political tensions. In response to these challenges, the research proposes a series of strategies that seek to strengthen citizen participation in water management. These strategies include improving information systems about water, strengthening coordination and collaboration among different actors, increasing institutional capacity, and promoting more inclusive and meaningful citizen participation.Ítem Zonificación ambiental estratégica para la reducción de la vulnerabilidad por desabastecimiento hídrico en la zona alta de la microcuenca de la quebrada la Sardinata del municipio de Palermo, Huila(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-02-07) Azabache Zarta, Maria Paula; Lasso Rojas, Leidy Camila; Urina Montenegro, Brinton Rafael; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000727610; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=dHzYCQEAAAAJWater is considered essential for societies, however, population growth has compromised the availability and quality of this natural resource. The national water study at the end of 2022, reflects an increase of approximately 5% in water consumption in Colombia, on the other hand the microwatershed of the La Sardinata stream, located in the municipality of Palermo in the department of Huila, has a vulnerability index due to water shortage, which is why the municipality presents a shortage of this resource. The purpose of carrying out this research is to determine the current condition of the upper zone in the micro-basin of the La Sardinata stream, through the application of environmental zoning to identify strategic areas of importance that promote productive development in the region and help improve the well-being of its inhabitants. To this end, the environmental zoning methodology based on the POMCA cartographic model is applied. The results obtained, after applying this process, allowed identifying and defining management categories, as well as areas and sub-areas of use and management, this is essential for the proper management and conservation of natural resources in the study area. Everything done allows us to conclude that it is necessary to implement ecological restoration strategies, such as reforestation and the recovery of plant cover in strategic ecosystems.Ítem Estrategias de Sostenibilidad Turística para la Incorporación al Plan de Manejo del Itinerario Cultural y Natural del Río Grande de la Magdalena(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-01-22) Castellanos Bravo, Laura Camila; Saldarriaga Ramírez, Carolina; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000388726; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002050989; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=QDwvhvEAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6460-563X; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3175-6460The Magdalena River is classified as the main tributary of Colombia, not only because of its great extension, but also because of its historical, environmental and social importance. Historically, it has historically developed the diverse dynamics that expose the identity and development of the country. This is why this research aims to contribute to the project for the inclusion of the Magdalena River as heritage in the category of cultural itinerary, in order to formulate guidelines for sustainability in tourism to ensure the conservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the basin through the diagnosis of the tourism potential of the river and the identification of the problems associated with this activity and its implications on society. It was found that the riverside municipalities of Magdalena river possess many attractions that stand out due to their exceptional nature, highlighting various World Heritage Sites and Colombian heritage sites. The guidelines highlight the importance of managing and promoting sustainable tourism as a possible mediator and mechanism for environmental protection, conservation of cultural identity, promotion of the attractiveness of the Colombian territory and a tool for promoting the quality of life of its inhabitants.Ítem Análisis de la articulación entre instrumentos de planificación territorial y de cuencas hidrográficas: estudio de caso PBOT municipio de Saravena, EOT municipio de Fortul y Pomca del Río Banadia, departamento de Arauca, Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-12-19) Durán Medina, Dayhana Alejandra; Angarita Triana, Adriana; Saldarriga Ramirez, Carolina; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002050990; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=QDwvhvEAAAAJThe Watershed Ordination and Management Plans (POMCA) are instruments of regulated resource planning that promote the equitable distribution and development of the territories and their communities. For this reason, the Law of Territorial Development catalogs the POMCAs as determinants of management and norms of higher hierarchy for the articulation and formulation of the Territorial Management Plans (POT, PBOT and EOT). However, the context of conflicts that historically affect the dynamics of land occupation in Colombia hinder the development processes, so this research proposes recommendations for the articulation between the POMCA of the Banadia River and the territorial planning instruments of the municipalities of Saravena and Fortul in the department of Arauca, in order to understand the dynamics and the context of the articulation of the environmental determinants in the planning instruments. As a result, it was found that the inclusion of the determinants of the POMCA are included conditionally and moderately due to the erroneous conception of the determinants and the economic and technical limitations in the formulation of the Land Management Plans, for which it is recommended the incorporation of technologies that favour the analysis and monitoring of information, the increase of participation and decentralisation of policies to guide the formulation of guidelines and mechanisms for risk management, care and preservation of the natural environment, as well as the socio-economic impulse that enables the execution of sustainable occupation models.Ítem Determinación, Análisis y Zonificación de Amenazas por Inundación en la Cuenca del Río Magdalena a la Altura del Municipio de Puerto Boyacá, Boyacá(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-10-12) Monsalve Barragán, Mildred Liliana; Uribe García, Nancy Liliana; Vanegas Alfonso, Olga Lucía; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001512849; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=w56HAo0AAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7350-7134Puerto Boyacá is a Colombian municipality located in the Boyacá region, on the right side bank of the Magdalena river. Its terrain is dominated by flat slopes and its geomorphological characteristics are associated to alluvial ecosystems. These conditions, plus the inappropriate occupation of the territory, configure phenomena such as floods, which entail both social and environmental problems that jeopardise life and local economy. In this study, the threat of this phenomenon in Puerto Boyacá is determined, analysed and zoned, following the provisions of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development with regard to the integration of risk management in Basin Management Plans – POMCAS. It was found that 39% of the municipality is at a medium level of susceptibility to flooding; that the threat of floods, classified as high, medium and low, predominates at this last level in 77% of the territory; and that in 10% of the urban area, in the neighbourhoods located on the banks of the Magdalena River, this threat is at a high levelÍtem Variación de la Calidad del Aire durante el Periodo 2016-2021, en el Área de Influencia Directa de la Microcuenca de la Quebrada La Nutria, en la Ciudad de Bogotá D.C(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-09-21) González Rodriguez, Alexander Stalin; Carvajal Flórez, Elizabeth; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001347928; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=PNknL9MAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4850-8850Pollution generated by human intervention in the headwaters of tributaries aquifers is a current problem in cities like Bogotá, which is experiencing growth demographic and population challenging for urban planning regulations. The Quebrada La Nutria is A microbasin that affects water quality increases gas concentrations. Inside of the Colombian legislative framework, the protection of the air and the obligation of companies and institutions that affect this resource to carry out characterizations to evaluate its status and offset or mitigate environmental impacts. The central purpose of this research lies in examining what is variation and air quality in the "Quebrada La Nutria" micro-basin during the period 2016-2021, focusing on meteorological variables and their incidence. The methodology used is mixed and exploratory, including data analysis on the quality of the air, literature review, consultation of reports on air quality in previous years. The results show a statistical characterization that corresponds to a variation in quality of the air of the micro-basin during the period studied, considering the seasons weather in San Cristóbal. The conclusions point out the need for adoption radical measures to reduce human activity that generates pollution, improve transportation systems, implement air purification and filtration systems, draw up a plan of action that allows the prevention of pollutants in the riverÍtem Manual para el Cumplimiento de la Normativa Ambiental de las Actividades Económicas Aledañas a la Ciénaga el Palmar como Estrategia de Autogestión y Educación Ambiental para el Uso Sostenible del Recurso Hídrico(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-09-07) Moreno Betancur, Paula Andrea; Robayo González, Yeny Paola; Lamprea Zona, Martha Custodia; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001597220; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=nGjYrFMAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8173-9477The Palmar swamp located in the municipality of Caucasia-Antioquia, has suffered environmental deterioration despite the environmental services offered by this ecosystem, this generated mainly by the increase in population and the development of economic activities without compliance with environmental legislation due to their ignorance and lack of understanding due to the difficult access to information and the costs associated with its implementation due to the payment of intermediaries and/or consultants. For this reason, a manual is formulated as a self-management strategy and environmental education for the sustainable use of water resources, for which primary and secondary information is used based on the identification of economic activities through field trips to determine and evaluate the negative environmental impacts caused to this body of water, where the need to process Environmental Permits before the competent Environmental Authority was obtained, as well as to carry out the proper management of solid waste, for which an Environmental Legal Framework is established as base of the structuring of the pedagogical tool that consolidates all the documentation and procedures in a clear and easily accessible way for all the actors of the territory in order to facilitate compliance with the Environmental Regulations of the surrounding economic activities in the Ciénaga El Palmar, which can also be used in the jurisdiction of CORANTIOQUIA, since, from the prevention and mitigation of negative environmental impacts through the implementation of environmental management measures framed in legal compliance, it contributes to the conservation of water heritage. On the other hand, the extinct INCODER used the agreement 180 of 2009 to determine the size and boundary of the properties, it is important to mention that at the time the massiveness was not contemplated to order the territory and to be able to assign titles to the farmers for this moment, this document explained how to make the field visit and identify the properties using direct methods either optical or GNSS. For this reason until 2018, is where the need to use new methodologies to determine the size and boundaries of the properties in the framework of the multipurpose cadastre is established, it is at this time that the tables are formed led by the different entities interested in participating in this process as IGAC, ANT, SNR, DNP, and the first pilots of the multipurpose cadastre are developed in the country, in municipalities such as Topaipi, Lebrija, Ovejas, etc., among others, where one of the main concerns was focused on georeferencing, which was carried out using traditional methodologies, such as RTK, fast static, use of optical methods (total station), procedures that make this activity exponentially more expensive and the yields are not the expected to be able to perform this activity in the short and medium term, where one of the main conclusions of these tables was that if these methodologies were to continue to be used, the country would be swept in approximately 150 years. Thus, it is urgent and necessary for the country to explore new methodologies to determine the size and boundaries of the properties in a shorter and more economical time, in order to be able to continue with issues of vital importance for the country, such as the implementation of the Rural Property Management Plans and the multipurpose cadastre.Ítem Estimación de la erosión hídrica en la cuenca del río Cravo Sur mediante el empleo de Sistemas de Información Geográfica (ArcGIS Pro–ESRI®)(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-06-26) Guasca Jáuregui, Juan Pablo; Padilla Tenjo, Luis Gabriel; Carvajal Flórez, ElizabethIn this research project, an estimate of the annual soil losses due to potential (EHP) and effective (EHE) water erosion (expressed in t/ha/year) in the Cravo Sur River watershed was made. It is intended to answer the following questions: How much is the annual loss of soil due to potential and effective water erosion in the Cravo Sur River watershed? And, what is the distribution or zoning of the degree of water erosion in the watershed under study? Said estimation was made based on the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) using Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS Pro–ESRI®). At first, the calculation of the rain erosivity factor (R), soil erodibility (K), relief (LS) and vegetation cover (C) was made and then, using raster algebra, calculated the EHP and EHE. As a result, the key role played by vegetation cover in soil protection against the phenomenon of erosion is highlighted, since the EHP (without vegetation cover) in the severe to catastrophic category would add 55,141 hectares affected (10.6% of the basin area) while the EHE (with vegetation cover) in the same range would cover 1,685 hectares (0.3% of the total area of the basin). Identifying and quantifying those areas that are most susceptible or vulnerable to water erosion is necessary to prioritize intervention actions that mitigate and counteract the acceleration and increase of the phenomenon.Ítem Sistematización de la Experiencia: Delimitación y Recuperación de la Ronda Hídrica Laguna de Fúquene(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2022-12-26) Díaz Aldana, Henry Gonzalo; Gómez Monzón, Jeison Andrés; Carvajal Flórez, Elizabeth; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001347928; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=PNknL9MAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4850-8850At the national level, work has been carried out to delimit the round of some water sources that are of great importance due to their location and their ecosystem services, in this sense, the water rounds play an essential role to preserve the country's water wealth since they are considered as a riparian zone, where there are interactions between terrestrial and aquatic environments such as transfers of water, nutrients, sediments, organic matter and organisms. It is worth mentioning that in the Cundiboyacense highlands, the delimitation and protection of the water round of the Fúquene lagoon was advanced. The delimitation is the establishment of the physical limit of the hydric round of the bodies of water, and its limit is drawn from the line of maximum tides or that of the permanent channel of rivers and lakes. Initially, the governmental environmental entities had to establish a methodology for the delimitation of water roundabouts for the area of their jurisdiction, being the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca - CAR, one of the pioneers in the subject with the development of the "Methodological Guide for the Delimitation of Zones is Round in the Jurisdiction of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca - CAR”. This document proposes a methodology that involves aspects such as land topography, ecosystem analysis, hydrological study, hydraulic behavior, property analysis and finally establishes an analysis of zoning and land use.Ítem Diseño en un instrumento didactico que facilite la estrategia para la fase de aprestamiento de los PONCA (Plan de Ordenamiento de Cuencas Hidrográficas).(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2022-08-16) Manrique Bermeo, Luisa Fernanda; Saavedra Reina, Fredy Alexander; Uribe, Andres; Universidad Santo TomásThe graduation project entitled "Design of a Didactic Instrument that Facilitates the Participation Strategy for the POMCA's Preparation Phase", consists in th e development of a didactic tool, where the Methodological Guide for the Management of Hydrographic Basins is taken as a starting point.
