This book shows the route to carry out a doctoral thesis as part of the research training, and is based on the case of the Doctorate in Education program of the Santo Tomás University in Bogotá, Colombia. An overview is made from the admission, presentation and approval of the research proposal for the doctoral candidacy, the support of the thesis, the internship and graduation in this postgraduate course. In this way, the stages of doctoral training are presented and the selection and admission process, the doctoral seminars, the development of the research, the support of the doctoral thesis and the graduation are described. Subsequently, the protocol for presentation and approval of the research proposal as a requirement for doctoral candidacy is shown, where the generalities of the research proposal for candidacy and its corpus of work to be developed are addressed. Then, the general guidelines for the presentation and support of the doctoral thesis are shown along with its definition, its characteristics, its content, its formal aspects, and the requirements for its evaluation and support. Finally, the ethical considerations for the development of doctoral research are shared, and formats and rubrics of the internship process, the research proposal, the doctoral thesis, and support are disclosed. In this way, this book becomes a contribution to the knowledge of doctoral training, since it supports the planning and organization of research work step by step.

This document presents some guidelines on the functions to be played by the advisor of a doctoral thesis in education. This purpose is justified because there are difficulties in understanding the type of accompaniment that should be made to the student, and that leads him to the successful achievement of the production of a thesis and its defense. It is argued that the work of the advisor should have pedagogical interaction as a reference, and recommendations are made according to this level of training. When the states initiate tasks that entail the execution of improvements and interventions in the education system, initiatives are presented to execute processes of formulation of educational policies PFP, understood these as actions that originate in the identification of needs for formulation of plans of action in the framework of continuous improvement; now This process is not executed easily and / or deliberately, since in the process of interacting with its actors, situations arise that can sometimes generate different scenarios that are not as favorable as they are: Obstruction in the execution of improvements, increase of discord between actors and alterations in educational ideologies (Medina, 1997). In the study and analysis of these situations, this document seeks to disclose some generalities that range from identifying the typologies of educational policies, to providing feedback the exercise of implementing educational policies from the analysis of situations that have been experienced in the Latin American cultural environment, with references from some countries such as: Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Brazil (Navarro, 2006); all this with the intention of addressing a common situation of the Latin context, rooted of course to the customs and aspects of the Latin American context. Finally, we present some conclusions that are generated from the exercise of the review of bibliographic sources and authors who have built material around the formulation and generation of knowledge around educational policies, their purpose, impact and implementation.
