Ítem ANÁLISIS DEL TURISMO SOSTENIBLE A PARTIR DEL MÉTODO DE COSTOS DE VIAJE EN EL PARQUE NACIONAL NATURAL DEL COCUY (PNN), BOYACÁ.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-01-22) Hernández Echeverria, Anggi Daniela; Vega Garzon, Lina PatriciaThis project focuses on the application of the travel cost method to assess the benefits and service provided by the El Cocuy National Natural Park (PNN), Boyacá. The main objective is to indirectly determine how much visitors value the natural park as an environmental attraction and as a conservation space. The study aims to measure sustainable management by integrating tourist activities such as hiking, observation of animals and plants, camping, among others, without affecting the ecosystem. Once the topic under study has been described, the research methodology to be applied is established. To do this, we start from the concept of research given by Sampieri, who defines it as "a set of systematic, critical and empirical processes that are applied to the study of a phenomenon or problem" (Sampieri, 2014, p. 45). Subsequently, the research focus is established, which for this project will be the qualitative approach using the collection and analysis of cost data and the assessment of environmental and social benefits for the construction and formulation of the research question. The conclusions of the cost analysis show that tourism can be an important source of income for communities, if sustainable practices are implemented. On the other hand, tourism in the Cocuy PNN must be regulated to avoid overexploitation, especially in months of high influx, guaranteeing the preservation of ecosystems.Ítem Impacto de una estrategia de educación para disminuir los residuos sólidos: Caso de estudio de una institución educativa en Colombia.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-12-02) Moreno Espitia, María Angélika; López Wanumen, Diego Armando; Vega Garzón, Lina Patricia; Universidad Santo TomásThis proposal seeks to analyze the impact of implementing an environmental education strategy to encourage the reduction of solid waste produced in an educational institution in the city of Tunja. The fulfillment of this purpose required an exploratory, descriptive methodology and a mixed approach, in which teachers, school directors, teaching assistants, administrators, maintenance and general services personnel, restaurant staff, students, among other interested parties participated. With the development of this proposal, it was possible to carry out a diagnosis of the current situation of solid waste produced in the educational institution Colegio San Viator in the city of Tunja, in which it was found that the lack of awareness and adequate environmental training among students and staff in general was evident; based on this diagnosis, an environmental strategy called "Ecogigantes CSV" was formulated and implemented, which included three stages: adaptation of the infrastructure, quality management and participation and education; The materialization of these moments led to a notable decrease in the amount of waste delivered to the landfill, going from 148.62 kg/day before to 50.4 kg/day after implementation, which contrasts with an increase in the amount of materials collected and used. This indicates that the strategy implemented was effective and encouraged the decrease in the production of solid waste and its use; it also allows us to deduce that an environmental awareness was generated in the educational community about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.Ítem Aprovechamiento de subproductos del cultivo de trucha arcoíris (Oncorhynchus mykiss) como estrategia de sostenibilidad ambiental en la piscicultura(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-12-10) Silva Cáceres, Juan Sebastián; Suarez Castillo, Claudia Rocío; Cuellar Rodríguez, Luz AngelaThe fishing industry represents one of the most important economic sectors in the world, where in Colombia rainbow trout fish crops represent a large part of the fish meat production in the country, with great contributions to the food security and economy of many populations. This economic activity has several processes and production stages for the production of products for the market, within which there is evidence of a continuous production of organic by-products that are not used and can generate negative impacts on the environment. This project aims to take advantage of the by-products of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farming as an environmental sustainability strategy in fish farming, by preparing a balanced cat food, identifying its potential for use and evaluating its nutritional composition. This research has a mixed methodological approach based on a bibliometric review and determine a process of transformation of the by-products experimentally, where through processes of enzymatic hydrolysis with papain, cooking, dehydration, grinding and compaction, a balanced food with high . levels of protein and nutritional elements capable of complying with the regulatory parameters for feeding cats, in addition, with the Soxhlet methodology, oil extraction was carried out from the by-products (heads, spines, viscera and gills), obtaining different types of fatty acids and values of Omega 3-6 and 9, where it can be concluded that the byproducts have great potential for the development of cat food and, in addition, a wide range of possibilities for being applied in the feeding of animals in the agricultural and domestic sectors, contributing to the environmental sustainability of the fish farming sector and generating a strategy to reduce organic waste in the environment.Ítem VALORACIÓN SOCIOCULTURAL DE SERVICIOS ECOSISTÉMICOS URBANOS EN EL PARQUE JUAN PABLO II DE LA CIUDAD DE CHIQUINQUIRÁ – BOYACÁ(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Pineda Pinilla, Tania Karina; Cuellar Rodriguez, Luz Angela; Universidad Santo TomásThe sociocultural valuation of ecosystem services allows analyzing the perceptions that the population of a given territory has about the natural resources and the benefits they obtain from them, being useful instruments for the identification and application of management and urban planning models. In this sense, the objective of this research is to identify the sociocultural value of the ecosystemic services of the Juan Pablo II Park in the city of Chiquinquira, as a facilitating mechanism for decision making in territorial planning in urban environments. Therefore, both biophysical and perception data collected through the application of a survey and interviews to the visiting population, as well as to governmental actors of the city of Chiquinquira, are analyzed. As a result, the wide range of goods and services provided by the park's ecosystem is evident, noting that the large forest and vegetation zone contributes significantly to the regulation of climatic conditions, the provision of resources, and support. Likewise, the park's sports and ecological facilities and infrastructure are an important identity and cultural factor for the population.Ítem Propuesta de un Plan de Pago por Servicios Ecosistémicos para la sostenibilidad del humedal La Cabaña del municipio de Tunja, Boyacá(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-09-25) Rocha Suárez, Leidy Johana; Rojas Ramos, Paula Fernanda; Castro Ortegón, Yuddy Alejandra; Universidad Santo TomásThe ‘La Cabaña’ wetland in Tunja, Boyacá, is a strategic ecosystem that provides important environmental services such as water purification, flood control, carbon sequestration and habitat for biodiversity. Despite its importance, this wetland faces serious threats due to human intervention, including urban sprawl, wastewater discharge and agricultural activities. This study addresses the problem of the conservation of the ‘La Cabaña’ wetland by proposing a Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) scheme as a viable solution for its sustainability. The research is exploratory and descriptive, and adopts a mixed approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods for a comprehensive analysis of the ecosystem. In terms of methodology, surveys and interviews were conducted with local inhabitants to understand their perception and disposition towards PES, as well as to collect ecological and economic data on the wetland. Instruments such as structured questionnaires were used to obtain quantitative information on land use and biodiversity, and semi-structured interview techniques were used to delve into qualitative aspects related to community attitudes and conservation knowledge. The quantitative analysis allowed to assess the effectiveness of PES in improving water quality and biodiversity, while the qualitative analysis facilitated the understanding of the social and economic dynamics affecting the wetland. The results show that the implementation of the PES model is not only feasible but also effective for wetland conservation. A significant improvement in biodiversity and water quality was observed, as well as an increase in the participation and engagement of the local community in conservation activities. This project demonstrates that PES can be an effective tool for sustainable wetland management and mitigation of the adverse effects of urban development.Ítem Sostenibilidad en el diseño y construcción de edificios escolares: un enfoque integral para la adaptación al cambio climático y el desarrollo de entornos educativos resilientes(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-05-16) Tangua Corzo, Cristian Camilo; Vargas López, Julieth Fernanda; Castro Bohorquez, Carlos Alfredo; Universidad Santo TomásSustainability in school buildings has become a transcendental issue for communities with respect to their development. Schools or educational institutions should not only be functional and aesthetic spaces, but should also tend to the care of ecosystems, the understanding of the susceptibility of the soil and the creation of educational environments resilient to global warming. Thus, the commitment to a comprehensive approach for the development of sustainable educational structures is born from the incorporation of strategies aimed at environmental sustainability. This research proposes to analyze and synthesize the scientific literature on sustainability in the framework of design, construction and adaptation of school buildings. In this way, a rigorous literature research is carried out following the PRISMA protocol to prioritize the existing approaches on the architectural horizon of educational institutions, where studies that address issues such as energy consumption reduction, thermal comfort, indigenous materials, water saving and bioclimatic design are selected. For this reason, the need to investigate and propose possible solutions to the problem arises since, due to the excessive consumption of the human population, the lack of planning and management, natural resources in strategic ecosystems have been reduced. Ecosystem services are all the goods and services enjoyed by human societies that totally depend on the transformations of materials and energy that can only be obtained from nature, conservation being a fundamental tool to be able to maintain, preserve and in some cases restore the natural conditions of these spaces. This study constitutes the first proposal in terms of sustainability in the area, it is oriented towards a future proposal for the creation of a Natural Reserve of Civil Society (RNSC) of the system of National Natural Parks of Colombia in the private property "Corralitos" located in the municipality of Pulí, Betania village of the Department of Cundinamarca, whose predominant ecosystem is the tropical dry forest, seeking to avoid different anthropic factors such as deforestation, caused mainly by activities such as livestock, monocultures, among others that lead to processes of soil degradation reaching to erosion and desertification. Therefore, in this project it is proposed to carry out a type of mixed research to make a diagnosis that provides information on the current situation to carry out a comparative analysis of the year 2020 and 2022. Then a multitemporal analysis using GIS to identify the natural resources present and the coverage changes presented to finally, through environmental sustainability strategies, contribute to promoting harmony between man and nature that promote alternatives that allow the conservation, preservation and restoration of said ecosystem gradually from the focus of education for the conservation of ecosystem services of the property for its subsequent conformation as a Nature Reserve.Ítem Ecobarrio, una alternativa de vivienda de interés social en el sector sur de la ciudad de Tunja , departamento de Boyacá - Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-02-02) Mesa Fonseca, Henrry alexander; Castro Bohórquez, Carlos Alfredo; Universidad Santo TomasConsidering the public policy related to the national housing system, the quality and applicability of affordable housing (VIS), which has been in operation for more than 20 years, has encountered unfavorable situations in the development process. A number of organizations have contracted to provide this service, including the Territorial Credit Institute (ICT) and the National Institute of Social Housing. There are four main principles aimed at generating and producing innovations according to their importance: "Vivienda diversa y flexible" aimed at meeting basic household needs; "Vivienda suficiente y de calidad" aimed at transforming urban areas to improve and reorganize, including the areas served; the "Vivienda que construye ciudad", which seeks to create productive urbanization in areas with safe soil; and the "Gestión integral, articulada, y diversa", which includes all relevant factors considered. As a starting point, a sustainable home is one that respects the environment and uses resources through the use of solar panels or other elements to reduce energy consumption, improving quality of life while reducing environmental impact. Through this research project, alternatives for the construction of socially relevant and sustainable housing in the south of the city of Tunja are proposed.Ítem Estado de conservación de las áreas protegidas en Colombia y estrategias para su conservación(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2023-01-23) Cely Montoya, Natalia María; Torres Franco, Angela Carolina; Vega, Lina; Universidad Santo Tomás TunjaThe development of this document allows for a comparison between three international and three national National Natural Parks, identifying the conservation status of certain protected areas in Colombia and how they can be improved according to the contributions found in the others analyzed. For this purpose, secondary information was used and the location, extension, environmental projects, and conservation status of each of the NNPs addressed are presented. Finally, fundamental aspects for the proper functioning and conservation of the country's parks are analyzed and discussed. Key words: Natural National Park, conservation, social impact, environmental projects.Ítem Diseño del sistema de seguimiento y control de la actividad de aprovechamiento de residuos sólidos ordinarios en el municipio de Tunja(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2022-12-16) Alfaro Roa, Carlos Alfredo; Parra Acosta, Jorge Eduardo; Suárez Castillo, Claudia Rocio; Universidad Santo TomásÍtem Estudio de factibilidad para la creación de una empresa de producción de papel a partir de material reciclable en la ciudad de Tunja.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2022-10-07) Ariza Santamaría, Jackeline; Mancipe, Joaquin; Universidad Santo TomasThe inadequate disposal of solid waste has become a problem for small, medium and large cities, which is increasing due to population growth, the concentration of population in urban areas, the inefficient development of the industrial and/or business sector, and changes in consumption patterns. The planet is at a point of exhaustion of its natural resources, making it necessary to transform the dominant development paradigm into one that allows for sustainable, inclusive development with a long-term vision. Taking into account the above, the objective of the research was to conduct a feasibility study for the creation of a Paper Production Company from Recyclable Material in the city of Tunja, which would improve the socioeconomic conditions of recyclers and implement the circular economy and provide a second option for paper and cardboard waste generated in the city, seeking to contribute to achieve the sustainable development goal No. 12. In the feasibility study, 110 people were surveyed to know the degree of interest and perception regarding the creation of the company. It was found that the majority of those surveyed would opt for 100% ecological paper, and they also recognize that good practices in the use and consumption of paper help to reduce negative impacts on the environment. With the creation of a paper production company from recyclable material in the city of Tunja, it is viable, since it represents profits, which indicates that it is suitable to carry it out, in addition to its generation of employment and care for the environment, Ambient.
