    In the telecommunications sector, project management plays a fundamental role in organizing technical, administrative, and operational activities aimed at providing connectivity services. This type of project requires coordination between different areas, schedule control, resource tracking, risk management, documentation of evidence, and compliance with service level agreements. Companies that execute technology projects require management models that allow them to plan, execute, monitor, and close their activities in an orderly manner. The absence of a structured framework can generate delays, rework, loss of information, communication difficulties, and poor control over the results obtained. In this context, this monograph aims to design a project management model applicable to a company in the telecommunications sector, focused on strengthening planning, monitoring, document traceability, risk management, and the control of indicators during the execution of connectivity projects. The document is developed from an analysis of the company's current state, a review of applicable methodologies and best practices, and the formulation of a model adapted to the identified operational needs. In this way, it seeks to provide a methodological tool that contributes to improving the management of technological projects and decision-making within the organization.

    This research is developed within the context of designing critical telecommunications services for enterprise environments, specifically for a call center located in Montego Bay, Jamaica, whose operation depends on continuous and reliable Internet connectivity. The purpose of this study is to design a redundant last-mile infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of service provided by the call center, based on the connectivity service delivered by Liberty Networks. The methodology corresponds to a descriptive case study, supported by an engineering design approach developed through analysis, design, and documentation phases. As a result, a technical design of a dual fiber-optic last-mile solution with highavailability and failover mechanisms is obtained and validated through simulation and provider technical criteria. The main conclusion establishes that an appropriate redundant last-mile design directly contributes to ensuring operational continuity and compliance with service quality levels in critical environments such as call centers.

    This monograph addresses the design of a Fortinet-based SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) architecture for multi-site enterprises in Colombia. The motivation comes from a pattern observed in the author's professional practice. MPLS-based WAN networks are expensive. They do not allow application-based traffic prioritization. They force traffic backhaul to the central datacenter. Firewall, VPN, and routing operations are siloed. The proposal leverages FortiOS native SD-WAN capabilities. One FortiGate per site acts as both SD-WAN controller and NGFW. Management is centralized through FortiManager. Visibility is obtained from FortiAnalyzer. The scope is bounded to Colombian multi-site enterprises with three to ten locations.

    This undergraduate project aimed to design and implement a web application to automate the management and traceability of Material Dispatch Records (Actas de Salida, AS) in the Inspections Department of Enel Colombia. The identified problem was related to the manual processing of multiple Excel files with non-standardized structures, resulting in long processing times, high operational workload, increased risk of human error, and limited traceability of technical assets. To address these challenges, a web application was developed using Python, PostgreSQL, and Streamlit. The proposed solution implements an Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process capable of automatically reading files, detecting headers, cleaning and transforming data, and performing bulk uploads into a centralized database. Additionally, an intuitive web interface was developed to allow users to search materials by serial number, reference, or item code, as well as to perform both manual and bulk file uploads while preventing duplicate records. The system was validated using real operational data from the Inspections Department, processing 21 Material Dispatch Records containing more than 15,000 serialized material records. The results demonstrated a processing time reduction of over 99%, a significant decrease in manual intervention, and improvements in data quality, availability, and traceability. The proposed solution strengthened operational control, streamlined material verification processes, and supported decision-making by automating a task that previously relied on repetitive and time-consuming manual activities.

    As part of an internship at Huawei Technologies Colombia S.A.S. within the Fixed Broadband (FBB) department, this project addresses the technical optimization of DWDM/OTN transmission node upgrades. The main challenge lies in the risk of disrupting end customers during maintenance windows, due to the manual and time-consuming planning of optical channel (OCh) routes. To address this, a methodology was implemented based on two pillars: the design of standardized minute-by-minute schedules to rigorously control execution and optical power levels, and the development of a Python code that automates the analysis of ASONTRAIL reports from the iMaster NCE-T. As a result, the time required to generate network topologies and impact maps was reduced by 50% (from 3 days to 1.5 business days), minimizing the risk of human error in physical and logical migrations. It should be noted that the network, port, and topology information presented in this document has been anonymized to protect the confidentiality of the operator’s infrastructure. It is concluded that automation is a fundamental pillar for ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in high-capacity networks.

    This study documents the technical support provided to Huawei Technologies Colombia S.A.S. for the integration of the Tigo and Telefónica mobile networks. The main challenge encountered was data inconsistency, along with the need to manually validate network inventories and designs, which directly impacted operational efficiency. To address this, work focused on three main areas: structured data validation, process automation, and availability monitoring. Methodologically, a Python script was created to automate IP address allocation for the MOCN technology and to generate purchase requests (PR Model). This script significantly reduced the processing time for each site, from 15 minutes to just a few seconds through batch processing. Additionally, high-level and low-level designs (HLD and LLD) were analyzed to determine hardware configurations, cell types, and transmission/reception (Tx/Rx) capabilities. Finally, management through the MAE corporate platform facilitated GPS system monitoring, enabling the rapid identification of any incidents and their efficient escalation for resolution. Therefore, technical validation and process automation ensure data integrity, reduce transcription errors, and optimize operational efficiency in large-scale integration projects.

    In development, research, and implementation environments for wireless communication technologies, the importance of using simulation tools becomes evident, as they allow prototypes to be validated and the behavior of a system to be predicted. This document describes the process through which the prototype of a Wi-Fi transmission system for a CT Machine at Siemens Healthineers was validated and tested, mainly using MATLAB and its WLAN Toolbox as tools for signal generation and simulation. The objective during this process was to understand the structure of Wi-Fi frames under the Wi-Fi 5 (IEEE 802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) standards by analyzing the different modulation schemes, the channel models that could affect transmission, and the channel estimation and equalization processes required for successful reception. Subsequently, the limitations of the prototype’s hardware components were identified. The sampling frequency of the signal to be transmitted had to be adjusted so that it matched the operation of the system’s DAC and FIFO memory, while maintaining the original bandwidth. Finally, the effects of the channel on the signal were observed. Although the signal had sufficient power to ensure a good signal-to-noise ratio, propagation in a rotating environment composed of metallic elements may have caused distortions in the transmission. Thus, the importance of the elements that enable frame synchronization, channel estimation, and channel equalization is reaffirmed, as they provide fundamental support in ensuring efficient communication. Throughout this process, the integration of theory and practice in the analysis and transmission of Wi-Fi signals was achieved, confirming the importance of understanding the system being used in order to implement simulations that provide relevant information, as well as testing processes that allow changes and improvements to be implemented within the prototype.

    This project presents a proposal to migrate and optimize a Huawei transmission infrastructure for a wholesale telecommunications operator. The main goal is to improve the network's capacity, availability, and spectral efficiency. The project addresses three key issues: dependency on third-party infrastructure for a transmission node, resource saturation in the electrical layer, and inefficient use of the optical spectrum caused by 100G channels. The methodology follows an analytical and applied approach, divided into four phases: diagnosis, design, migration, and validation. First, the existing infrastructure was analyzed using management tools and technical documentation to identify operational limits and growth needs. Next, a migration strategy was designed, which includes adding a new self-owned node, reorganizing services in the electrical layer, and optimizing the optical layer by implementing 200G wavelengths (lambdas) and flexible grid technologies. Additionally, the proposal includes redundancy and automatic restoration mechanisms using ASON architecture to ensure continuous operation and high network resilience. As a result, the project delivers a more scalable and efficient infrastructure ready to handle future traffic demands, optimizing current resources and improving the management and availability of transmission services.

    This document presents the design and implementation of ScanDoc, a software tool for the automated validation of technical field test reports in the Radio Frequency division of Huawei-Colombia. The need for this solution arose from the manual review of Word documents (LTE and UMTS), a repetitive and error-prone process. The solution is based on a theoretical framework that integrates mobile networks, the structure of the .docx format, XML processing, conversion using Pandoc, and automation principles, resulting in a modular architecture developed in Godot Engine with the capability to simultaneously analyze multiple documents. The tests conducted demonstrate significant reductions in validation times, confirming the system’s technical viability and its positive impact on the efficiency and standardization of the document process.

    This study analyzes process optimization at GM Financial through the implementation of automation tools such as Excel with VBA macros and Power Automate. Initially, manual processes in report generation and document management were identified, leading to rework, long execution times, and operational risks. Using a case study approach, solutions were designed to automate data consolidation, reporting, and document processing. The results show an approximate 83.33% reduction in report generation time, along with a significant decrease in errors and dependency on specific personnel. It is concluded that automation not only improves operational efficiency but also enhances reliability, traceability, and process continuity in financial environments.

    This monograph examines the strengthening of IT security at Colsubsidio based on the cybersecurity controls and identity management implemented by the IT Security Department within the Technology Division during the internship period from July 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026. The study takes a descriptive, case-study approach and is based on the review of evidence generated by specialized tools such as Azure Entra ID, Qualys, CrowdStrike, and SAP, as well as access matrices, connectivity inventories, and reports for the fiscal audit. The cybersecurity component analyzes identity monitoring controls in the cloud through multi-factor authentication and conditional access, vulnerability management across twenty-four web portals, and the response to security alerts on endpoints, along with periodic verification of IP addresses against blacklists to preserve the availability and reputation of technology services. The identity management component examines the processes for reviewing non-generic users, the removal of over 1,000 obsolete roles in SAP, and the monthly monitoring of 113 critical transactions, all aimed at reinforcing the principle of least privilege and the segregation of duties in ERP systems and associated applications. The results demonstrate improved traceability of privileged access, greater visibility into vulnerabilities, and a consolidation of the evidence required by internal audit and statutory audit, showing that the integration of IAM, vulnerability management, and network security constitutes a fundamental pillar for protecting the organization’s technological assets. Furthermore, the systematization of this experience provides a practical framework for the implementation and monitoring of information security controls in complex corporate environments.

    The rapid growth in demand for high-speed telecommunications services, driven by the expansion of teleworking, online education, digital entertainment, and the Internet of Things (IoT), has created a need for more robust, secure, and efficient network infrastructure. In the municipality of Chía, Cundinamarca, connectivity coverage and service quality still face limitations, especially in residential areas and developing sectors, where copper-based technologies or hybrid HFC networks predominate, failing to achieve the speeds and stability currently required. To address this problem, a fiber optic network based on GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology is proposed. This network will enable the integrated delivery of internet access, telephony, and digital television services with high levels of availability, scalability, and performance. This solution focuses on optimizing the distribution of optical resources through a passive architecture, which reduces operating costs, minimizes energy consumption, and facilitates future system scalability. The project will focus on the technical and structural design of an FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network for the municipality of Chía, starting from the phases of: surveying all aerial and underground infrastructure, digitizing mapping, and the general implementation of the solution, all carried out using the AutoCAD computer-aided design software. This approach will allow the establishment of a modern and reliable infrastructure that expands fiber optic coverage in the municipality, especially focusing on a cluster (a geographical group of properties, homes, or service units strategically grouped to facilitate the planning, design, and deployment of the fiber optic network), ensuring stable and high-performance connectivity for residential and commercial users. This will allow for future projects to be carried out on a large scale throughout the entire municipality.

    The project focuses on the development, using Python, of an automation tool for the Customer Support IP– DATACOM area, which provides technical support to the client Claro. As part of this process, the team must prepare two essential documents that serveas internal guidelines for Huawei engineers and are later sent to Claro to inform them about the activities that will be carried out in their network. The first document is the Capacity Documentation, where technical data is recorded, in cluding equipment details, cards, slots, ports, locations, and visual evidence captured during the maintenance window. The second document corresponds to the Minutograms or MOPs, which describe in detail the step-by-step activities, commands, estimated times, and rollback procedures for upgrade (software version updates) or update (patchapplication) tasks. The automation tool developed standardizes and generates both documents based onuser-provided parameters, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in the operatio nal documentation produced during the internship.

    This project presents the development of HEG (Hardware Evidence Generator), a Python based tool designed during a professional internship at Huawei to automate the extraction and documentation of network hardware information. The system processes text filesexported from the iMaster NCE platform and automatically filters relevant data such asserial numbers, board codes, and slot details. Through its graphical interface, HEG significantly reduces manual work time, minimizes human errors, and standardizes technical documentation. This automation improves operational efficiency in network support tasks.     This thesis presents the design and implementation of a Risk and Backup Management Framework for automations in the Security Operations Center (SOC) of the company FW Ingeniería, with the objective of improving the reliability, traceability and security of automated processes. First, a diagnosis of the current automation process was carried out, identifying weaknesses such as the absence of formal backups, lack of structured validation and limited documentation of changes. Subsequently, technical and operational risks were identified and classified using a quantitative matrix based on probability and impact, prioritizing those categorized as high and critical. Based on these results, a methodological framework was designed, structured in phases of risk analysis, initial backup, testing in a controlled environment, deployment in production, validation and continuous improvement, integrating good practices from ITIL, the ISO/IEC 27005:2018 standard and the Scrum agile methodology. Finally, the pilot implementation showed a significant reduction in report errors, failures without backup and operational rework within the SOC.

    This document presents a graduation project that describes the design and implementation of a hybrid telecommunications network combining radio frequency and fiber optics to provide reliable internet access in the rural area of Chocoita, located in the municipality of Girón, Santander. This region faces physical access limitations, lack of telecommunications infrastructure, and an unmet demand for essential digital services. The project identified key technical, logistical, and regulatory challenges related to rural connectivity, such as rugged topography, high underground deployment costs, and the absence of traditional service providers. To address these issues, a hybrid network architecture was deployed, using radio frequency links for the backbone and aerial fiber optics installed on both metal and concrete poles for local distribution. Part of the supporting infrastructure leveraged for the deployment belongs to the concession of Iluminación San Juan de Girón, a company operating under agreement with the Girón Mayor’s Office. This allowed cost reduction and optimization in certain segments, while the installation of new poles in critical areas extended the fiber network from Chocoita to Palogordo, ensuring continuity, safety, and technical support for the cabling. The methodology included topographic surveys, permit management, pole installation, fiber optic deployment, fusion splicing, and network performance testing. It also covered service activation, user terminal installation, and community training for basic network operation and maintenance. Finally, a theoretical and regulatory framework was integrated, along with a budget estimate, work schedule, and an analysis of the social, technical, and economic impact of the project. The results demonstrate the technical and socio-economic feasibility of hybrid models for digital inclusion, offering a replicable and scalable solution for rural connectivity in similar contexts across the country.

    Análisis del uso e implementación de MOCN en redes de comunicaciones móviles

    The operation of shared mobile networks under the MOCN model presents challenges associated with the efficient management of spectrum and network resources in environments where third, fourth, and fifth generation mobile technologies from two or more operators coexist. With this in mind, the objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze the activities carried out during the professional internship in the “mobile network consolidation” (MOCN) project, aimed at optimizing and managing a shared mobile network. A descriptive and applied approach was adopted, based on the execution of technical activities such as antenna configuration, refarming and band merging, cell management, and traffic analysis, using RAN (MAE) network management software. The activities were carried out on networks operating under UMTS (3G), LTE (4G), and NR (5G) technologies, on the B4 (AWS), B2 (PCS), and B28 (700 MHz) frequency bands. After deployment, improvements in network capacity and coverage were evident, given the increase in cells for each operator, increasing the number of sites for each of them. In addition, zero traffic incidents were resolved and connectivity was restored. The results highlight the importance of proper technical management in MOCN projects and the effective application of theoretical knowledge in a real operating environment.

    Automatización de procesos documentales y de seguimiento de actividades en proyectos de transmisión en Huawei Colombia

    Problem: In telecommunications transmission projects, documentation processes and activity tracking are often managed through manual or poorly structured methodologies, which may lead to inefficiencies, errors, and difficulties in organizing technical information. Objective: To analyze and develop automation and systematization solutions for documentation processes and task tracking in the Transmission area of Huawei Colombia, in order to optimize the efficiency, organization, and quality of technical documentation. Method: The study was conducted under an applied and descriptive approach, within the framework of a professional internship, through the observation of existing processes, the design and implementation of automation tools based on Python, and the development of a system for weekly activity control and visualization. Results: The results show an increase in the number of generated minutograms, the successful automation of hardware evidence documentation, and the implementation of an integrated system for activity registration, administration, and analysis, supported by graphical visualizations and detailed reports. Discussion: The findings confirm that the automation and structuring of documentation and operational processes contribute to improving efficiency, information consistency, and work control in transmission projects, validating the relevance of the applied approach and its coherence with the theoretical foundations of automation and technological project management.
