The study takes a descriptive, case-study approach and is based on the review of evidence generated by specialized tools such as Azure Entra ID, Qualys, CrowdStrike, and SAP, as well as access matrices, connectivity inventories, and reports for the fiscal audit. The cybersecurity component analyzes identity monitoring controls in the cloud through multi-factor authentication and conditional access, vulnerability management across twenty-four web portals, and the response to security alerts on endpoints, along with periodic verification of IP addresses against blacklists to preserve the availability and reputation of technology services. The identity management component examines the processes for reviewing non-generic users, the removal of over 1,000 obsolete roles in SAP, and the monthly monitoring of 113 critical transactions, all aimed at reinforcing the principle of least privilege and the segregation of duties in ERP systems and associated applications. The results demonstrate improved traceability of privileged access, greater visibility into vulnerabilities, and a consolidation of the evidence required by internal audit and statutory audit, showing that the integration of IAM, vulnerability management, and network security constitutes a fundamental pillar for protecting the organization’s technological assets. Furthermore, the systematization of this experience provides a practical framework for the implementation and monitoring of information security controls in complex corporate environments.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Diseño e implementación de una red de fibra óptica GPON para el municipio de Chía, Cundinamarca, bajo los parámetros del departamento técnico y de diseño FTTH de Huawei Technologies Colombia S.A.S.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-04-20) Roncancio Gómez, Cristian Camilo; Martínez Barrera, Crisman; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000306487; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4103-6846The rapid growth in demand for high-speed telecommunications services, driven by the expansion of teleworking, online education, digital entertainment, and the Internet of Things (IoT), has created a need for more robust, secure, and efficient network infrastructure. In the municipality of Chía, Cundinamarca, connectivity coverage and service quality still face limitations, especially in residential areas and developing sectors, where copper-based technologies or hybrid HFC networks predominate, failing to achieve the speeds and stability currently required. To address this problem, a fiber optic network based on GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology is proposed. This network will enable the integrated delivery of internet access, telephony, and digital television services with high levels of availability, scalability, and performance. This solution focuses on optimizing the distribution of optical resources through a passive architecture, which reduces operating costs, minimizes energy consumption, and facilitates future system scalability. The project will focus on the technical and structural design of an FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network for the municipality of Chía, starting from the phases of: surveying all aerial and underground infrastructure, digitizing mapping, and the general implementation of the solution, all carried out using the AutoCAD computer-aided design software. This approach will allow the establishment of a modern and reliable infrastructure that expands fiber optic coverage in the municipality, especially focusing on a cluster (a geographical group of properties, homes, or service units strategically grouped to facilitate the planning, design, and deployment of the fiber optic network), ensuring stable and high-performance connectivity for residential and commercial users. This will allow for future projects to be carried out on a large scale throughout the entire municipality.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Sistema de generación autónoma de documentos de capacidad para Claro(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-03-19) Leguizamon Sanchez, Jorge Ivan; Martinez Barrera, Crisman; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000306487; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4103-6846; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-4880-770XThe project focuses on the development, using Python, of an automation tool for the Customer Support IP– DATACOM area, which provides technical support to the client Claro. First, a diagnosis of the current automation process was carried out, identifying weaknesses such as the absence of formal backups, lack of structured validation and limited documentation of changes. Subsequently, technical and operational risks were identified and classified using a quantitative matrix based on probability and impact, prioritizing those categorized as high and critical. Based on these results, a methodological framework was designed, structured in phases of risk analysis, initial backup, testing in a controlled environment, deployment in production, validation and continuous improvement, integrating good practices from ITIL, the ISO/IEC 27005:2018 standard and the Scrum agile methodology. Finally, the pilot implementation showed a significant reduction in report errors, failures without backup and operational rework within the SOC.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Modelo de red híbrida FO–RF para la expansión de conectividad rural entre Palogordo (punto troncal) y Chocoita (sitio de implementación): diseño, implementación y validación técnica en convenio con la empresa Reito(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-02-04) Martinez Martinez, Christian Gabriel; Vilora Soto, Silene; Universidad Santo TomásThis document presents a graduation project that describes the design and implementation of a hybrid telecommunications network combining radio frequency and fiber optics to provide reliable internet access in the rural area of Chocoita, located in the municipality of Girón, Santander. This region faces physical access limitations, lack of telecommunications infrastructure, and an unmet demand for essential digital services. The project identified key technical, logistical, and regulatory challenges related to rural connectivity, such as rugged topography, high underground deployment costs, and the absence of traditional service providers. To address these issues, a hybrid network architecture was deployed, using radio frequency links for the backbone and aerial fiber optics installed on both metal and concrete poles for local distribution. Part of the supporting infrastructure leveraged for the deployment belongs to the concession of Iluminación San Juan de Girón, a company operating under agreement with the Girón Mayor’s Office. This allowed cost reduction and optimization in certain segments, while the installation of new poles in critical areas extended the fiber network from Chocoita to Palogordo, ensuring continuity, safety, and technical support for the cabling. The methodology included topographic surveys, permit management, pole installation, fiber optic deployment, fusion splicing, and network performance testing. It also covered service activation, user terminal installation, and community training for basic network operation and maintenance. Finally, a theoretical and regulatory framework was integrated, along with a budget estimate, work schedule, and an analysis of the social, technical, and economic impact of the project. The results demonstrate the technical and socio-economic feasibility of hybrid models for digital inclusion, offering a replicable and scalable solution for rural connectivity in similar contexts across the country.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Análisis del uso e implementación de MOCN en redes de comunicaciones móviles(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-02-04) Mendoza Sánchez, Alejandro; Álvarez Pizarro, Yuli Andrea; Universidad Santo TomásThe operation of shared mobile networks under the MOCN model presents challenges associated with the efficient management of spectrum and network resources in environments where third, fourth, and fifth generation mobile technologies from two or more operators coexist. With this in mind, the objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze the activities carried out during the professional internship in the “mobile network consolidation” (MOCN) project, aimed at optimizing and managing a shared mobile network. A descriptive and applied approach was adopted, based on the execution of technical activities such as antenna configuration, refarming and band merging, cell management, and traffic analysis, using RAN (MAE) network management software. The activities were carried out on networks operating under UMTS (3G), LTE (4G), and NR (5G) technologies, on the B4 (AWS), B2 (PCS), and B28 (700 MHz) frequency bands. After deployment, improvements in network capacity and coverage were evident, given the increase in cells for each operator, increasing the number of sites for each of them. In addition, zero traffic incidents were resolved and connectivity was restored. The results highlight the importance of proper technical management in MOCN projects and the effective application of theoretical knowledge in a real operating environment.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Automatización de procesos documentales y de seguimiento de actividades en proyectos de transmisión en Huawei Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-02-04) Jacome Perez, Stevenn Andrei; Gelves Gelves, Elizabeth; Universidad Santo TomasProblem: In telecommunications transmission projects, documentation processes and activity tracking are often managed through manual or poorly structured methodologies, which may lead to inefficiencies, errors, and difficulties in organizing technical information. The goal of the internship was to support the analysis and optimization of the performance of 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile networks for the operators Tigo and Telefónica in Colombia, in the context of unifying the radio access and core networks. My main activities included using customer tracking tools to trace network performance and focus on trend analysis and monitoring escalated sites. This process established a continuous communication channel and facilitated case review during periodic meetings by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs). Optimization tasks were also carried out for 3G, 4G, and 5G networks through technical site analysis and parameter adjustments to improve network performance in different regions. Furthermore, I developed Python scripts to automate operational tasks and enable the large-scale extraction and execution of network parameter configurations. This improved the efficiency of optimization processes and the analysis of large volumes of operational data. Through these activities, technical knowledge was acquired in traditional technologies, such as UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G), as well as in emerging technologies, such as NR (5G), which are being increasingly deployed in Colombia. Practical skills in data analysis and mobile network performance evaluation were also strengthened.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Optimización de procesos de radicación FTTH – Huawei(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-01-19) Hernández Mendoza, Juan Manuel; Mancera, Pedro Alejandro; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000068920; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002446437; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8546-5058This document details the complete process implemented for submitting FTTH fiber optic projects in the internship area at Huawei. The main task is the change from MDU clusters (Multiple Housing Units), which are responsible for permits for residential complexes or shopping centers that have Claro service, to SDU clusters (Single-Family Housing Units), which are responsible for permits for open neighborhoods. In other words, they are responsible for ensuring that all external elements, such as poles or cameras, are suitable for fiber optic deployment. This includes preparing the technical documentation, creating a document with photographic records of the poles and cameras, submitting the project to JOIN AS, Umbrella, and ISDP, and maintaining internal project control. All of this follows the technical, regulatory, and operational rules of Huawei, Claro, and Enel. The process begins upon receiving the engineering cluster design. Using this, the MDUs are removed, leaving only the SDUs, as this is for individual homes. Next, we check that the fiber optic cable follows its path, observing the location of the poles to ensure logical and technical continuity. The training offered aims to improve the planning, execution, and documentation of FTTH projects, strengthening the skills of telecommunications engineers. To this end, training will be provided on the construction and deployment of fiber optic networks. This will cover everything from the installation of feeders and subfeeders to splicing and distribution to individual homes. Furthermore, Excel macros will be optimized to simplify the creation of CSV files, thus improving the management of photographic documentation. The training program includes the creation of technical documentation required by electricity companies such as Enel, ENSA, ESSA, EEP, and CHECK. Similarly, specialized tools such as QGIS, AutoCAD, and OneBox will be used. Furthermore, the automation of image renaming will be explored to improve the organization of the photographic record and, in turn, enhance project traceability. Finally, the objective of this work is to organize information to prepare engineers to manage telecommunications projects with greater efficiency, precision, and coordination, ensuring faster execution and the delivery of complete and organized documentation, while meeting industry standards.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Implementación de dashboards dinámicos para kpis de telecomunicaciones(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-11-10) Pedraza Holguín, Carlos Daniel; Castro Ramírez, Victor Manuel; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000726397; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002433680In the telecommunications sector, network sharing has emerged as a key strategy to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize the use of radio spectrum. This project made a significant contribution to my training as a Telecommunications Engineering student, allowing me to apply my knowledge of processing, analyzing, and managing large volumes of data—fundamental skills in the field of information technology. The second project focused on data origination, specifically cross-referencing and verifying the information provided by customers. A process was designed to evaluate the quality of the recorded data in order to guarantee its integrity, consistency, and reliability. This initiative contributed to optimizing validation processes and reducing errors in information management, thus strengthening the entity's operational efficiency. Both projects allowed for the application of theoretical knowledge in a real-world environment, the development of analytical skills, and the proposal of practical solutions to common problems in the financial sector.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Diseño e implementación de una solución automatizada para la gestión de participación en proyectos(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-12-16) Herrera Sarmiento, Nicolas; Fuenmayor Rivadeneira, Gerald Breek; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000705071; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002437927; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7208-6662This thesis presents the design and implementation of an automated solution to manage the inventory of people’s participation across projects at Claro Colombia. The previous process was handled manually in Excel (550+ rows) and consolidated via email, leading to delays, data-entry errors, and the risk of staff over-allocation (>100%). The proposal leverages Microsoft Power Platform: a Power Apps interface connected to SharePoint/Excel for data entry and retrieval; Power Automate flows for traceability, notifications, and weekly over-allocation monitoring; and a chatbot (“Pablito”) to support common queries. Methodologically, this is a case study with a mixed approach, combining interviews, usability testing, and log analysis. Expected outcomes include reduced operational time, improved data quality, and better decision-making through centralized and traceable information. The document details the architecture, key workflows, UI screens, and guidelines for validation and future scaling.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Diseño de una emisora de interés público en el municipio de Choachí, Cundinamarca(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2005) Pinilla Borbón, Edgar Alberto; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Reducción de costos y optimización de la red de microondas satelital de Ecopetrol S.A.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2009) Guerrero Córdoba, Giselle Viviana; Universidad Santo TomásTipo de ítem: Ítem , Implementación de plataforma de monitoreo centralizado con Zabbix(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-09-30) Arregoces Adarme, Nicolas; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002175848; https://orcid.org/0009-0006-8595-738XThe need to centralize the monitoring of the company’s network infrastructure, especially within the framework of the project with the Governor’s Office, is based on technical, operational, and strategic criteria. The coexistence of multiple monitoring platforms hindered the consolidation of metrics, the correlation of events, and the generation of uniform reports for the different stakeholders involved. This resulted in slower incident response, greater administrative effort, and the inability to maintain a comprehensive view of the network’s health. The implementation of a Zabbix server as a single monitoring platform directly addresses these limitations, providing an integrated, scalable, and reliable environment that centralizes information from the 96 municipalities and their offices in one place. The use of standard protocols such as SNMP and ICMP (ping) ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices, while the configuration of L2TP and EoIP tunnels guarantees that information flows securely and stably from the remote infrastructure to the central server located in the company’s data center. From an operational standpoint, consolidating monitoring in Zabbix enables: ● Real-time visibility of the status of each municipality and its offices. ● Historical analysis of metrics, allowing the identification of failure patterns and planning of preventive maintenance. ● Unified alerting, which reduces response times and prevents duplicated notifications across platforms. ● Optimization of human resources by centralizing operations into a single management interface. From a strategic perspective, the solution strengthens the company’s ability to provide robust and professional monitoring services to institutional clients such as the Governor’s Office, enhancing the perception of reliability and technical capability. The ability to generate usage graphs, automated reports, and customized dashboards increases the added value delivered to the client and helps maintain competitiveness in the telecommunications services market. Moreover, the choice of Zabbix as the main tool is justified by its technical advantages: ● It is an open-source solution, avoiding licensing costs and allowing tailored adaptations. ● It has a broad community and official documentation, facilitating issue resolution and the implementation of continuous improvements. ● It enables the creation and customization of templates for specific devices, such as the Mikrotik units present in the project. In summary, the implementation of a centralized Zabbix server not only solves the technical problem of tool fragmentation but also improves operational efficiency, optimizes resource usage, increases monitoring stability, and strengthens the company’s image with its strategic clients (Cloudflare, 2023).Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Implementación de un Portal de Mensajería SMS a Través del Protocolo SMPP V3-4(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2006) Martínez Trujillo, Ricardo Antonio; Universidad Santo TomásThe Internet is the most widely used network in the world, not only because of the ease with which it connects two remote points on the globe, but also because of the wide variety of services found in its vast repertoire of websites. The Internet offers the ability to integrate with almost any existing network, but integration with mobile networks is the focus of hardware and software system developers today. SMPP messaging has been in development for some time in Europe and the United States, but this type of service is only now beginning to emerge in Latin America. This means that at this time, the number of developments in Latin America is almost nonexistent; therefore, the focus is on demonstrating a viable path to achieving development that meets the necessary characteristics, such as meeting the needs of any service provider, and not relying on imported models.
