A situational diagnosis was conducted through surveys, document review, and direct observation, revealing a critical level of regulatory compliance and highlighting the urgent need for structured intervention. A gap analysis and SWOT matrix were subsequently applied to identify internal and external factors affecting OHS management within the company. Based on these findings, the system’s core documentation was developed, including technical, administrative, and operational procedures. An action plan was proposed, defining responsibilities, timelines, monitoring indicators, and necessary resources. This project provides a strategic tool to mitigate occupational risks and strengthen the organizational culture regarding health and safety, while also offering a progressive compliance roadmap that enhances the company’s competitiveness and sustainability within the construction industry. To analyze the risk factors associated with the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among office workers, as reported in the scientific literature published between 2020 and 2025. Specific Objectives -To identify the primary occupational risk factors associated with the development of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome among office workers based on scientific literature published during the last five years. -To examine the physical consequences of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in office workers according to scientific evidence published between 2020 and 2025. -To propose evidence-based intervention and prevention strategies aimed at reducing the occurrence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in office work environments. Scoping reviews are designed to map key concepts and synthesize the available evidence on a specific topic without being restricted to the critical appraisal of individual studies. Consequently, they constitute an appropriate methodological approach for examining multifactorial health conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in office-based occupations. A systematic literature review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines (Page et al., 2021), considering publications from 2020 to 2025. Through this process, the variables and indicators relevant to the present study were identified in 19 scientific articles, enabling the research questions to be addressed comprehensively. A pathophysiological analysis is essential for understanding the mechanisms underlying injury development. The reviewed studies indicate that maintaining the wrist in extreme flexion or extension positions leads to a substantial increase in intracarpal hydrostatic pressure. Consequently, office furniture and workstation designs that fail to support a neutral wrist posture may contribute directly to neural ischemia and subsequent neurological damage. The physical consequences of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome among administrative personnel encompass a progressive spectrum of impairment, evolving from sensory dysfunction to motor deficits that adversely affect functional independence, work performance, and overall productivity.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Riesgos psicosociales del teletrabajo y su impacto en la salud mental: una monografía de revisión en el marco del sistema de gestión de seguridad y salud en el trabajo (2020 - 2024)(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) Muñetón Martínez, León David; Cortes Zabala, Zuly Janeth; Universidad Santo TomásIn this study, analyze the psychosocial risks associated with telework and their impact on workers' mental health, based on a review of scientific literature published between 2020 and 2024. This analysis contributes to understanding the current challenges of digital work environments and highlights the need to implement healthy organizational practices.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Estudio de factores de riesgo biomecánico vinculados a las lesiones musculoesqueléticas en trabajadores de call center(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) López Soto, Allison Michelle; Poveda Ortega, Laura Sofia; Fuentes Arias, Jorge Emilio; Ayala Sarasty, Juliana; Universidad Santo TomasThe objective of this monograph is to analyze the available evidence on biomechanical risk factors associated with the development of musculoskeletal injuries in call center workers. It was conducted using a qualitative approach through the analysis of 16 scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The results allowed the identification of three biomechanical risk factors: posture as the most relevant factor, repetitive movements with greater impact on the upper limbs, and muscle load related to sustained physical effort, which act simultaneously increasing the risk of injury to the worker. On the other hand, it was found that the neck (90%) and the lumbar region (78%) are the most affected body segments, followed by the upper limbs, especially wrists and shoulders. Likewise, sedentary activities, continuous use of screens, and the absence of active breaks increase biomechanical load, raising the risk of developing musculoskeletal injuries. These findings are related to theoretical models that determine the accumulation of mechanical load in tissues and its impact on workers' health. Keywords: biomechanical risk factor, musculoskeletal injuries, ergonomics, call center, physical load.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Factores de riesgos biomecánicos y sus efectos sobre la salud en trabajadores del sector de microempresas de manufactura en Colombia: Revisión documental 2020 - 2025(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-22) Diandra Marcela Urbina Daza; Santiago Tamayo Escobar; Yolicette Bolívar Cabarcas ; Universidad Santo TomasThis research aimed to analyze biomechanical risk factors and their effects on the health of workers in the manufacturing sector in Colombia, based on scientific literature published between 2020 and 2025. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach and a documentary review design in the form of a scoping monograph, following the guidelines established by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Ergonomics was addressed as a discipline focused on adapting working conditions to human capabilities in order to promote safety, health, and productivity. From the biomechanical model perspective, continuous exposure to physical forces, repetitive movements, awkward postures, and manual material handling can lead to musculoskeletal disorders due to the accumulation of microtrauma in muscles, tendons, and joints. Information was collected through a systematic review of scientific articles, books, technical reports, and national and international regulations. The selected studies were organized into a documentary review matrix to facilitate analysis. Findings were classified into categories related to ergonomics, biomechanical risks, musculoskeletal disorders, working conditions, productivity, and preventive measures. The results showed that the main biomechanical risks in manufacturing microenterprises are awkward postures, repetitive movements, and manual handling of loads. These factors are significantly associated with occupational diseases such as low back pain, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and neck pain, negatively affecting workers’ health, increasing absenteeism, and reducing productivity. The review also identified the most commonly reported preventive measures, including ergonomic workstation redesign, active break programs, and the application of ergonomic assessment methods. However, their implementation remains limited due to economic, technical, and training constraints. Consequently, biomechanical risks continue to represent a significant occupational health challenge in Colombia’s manufacturing sector.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Impacto de los factores de riesgo psicosocial en los trabajadores de call center: revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-18) Osorio Gómez, Johana Carolina; Salas Perdomo, María Daniela; Alvarado Polo, Lucy Fernanda; Cortés Zabala, Zuly Janeth; Universidad Santo TomásThis research is a qualitative, documentary study that involved a literature review on the impacts of psychosocial risk factors on call center workers. It analyzed the main consequences of these factors, their effects on service quality, and identified strategies and recommendations for improving the mental health of this workforce. The review revealed that call center workers, due to constant exposure to conditions of mental and emotional overload, face a high risk of experiencing work-related stress, anxiety disorders, depression, sleep disorders, physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion, or burnout syndrome (referred to in this document as "burned-out worker syndrome"). They also experience job demotivation, irritability, frustration, and low job performance. These issues impact not only the mental health and job performance of the workers but also the organizations themselves, resulting in low productivity, decreased service quality, absenteeism, employee turnover, high staff turnover, increased accidents and occupational illnesses, and a deteriorating organizational climate. Finally, it is concluded that beyond compliance with existing regulations in Colombia, it is important to strengthen strategies for the prevention and promotion of mental health among call center workers. This can be achieved through motivational campaigns, wellness programs, emotional support strategies, flexible work schedules, promotion of healthy lifestyles, resilience building, training in stress management and assertive communication, as well as actions aimed at preventing work overload and improving working conditions. These measures contribute to the well-being of workers and the sustainability of organizations.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Implicaciones de la fatiga digital en el estado de salud de los teletrabajadores: una revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Molina Pelayo, Daniela Marcela; Diaz Mercado, Daniela; Monroy Triana, Fabiola; Buitrago Buitrago, Jhosman Alfonso; Universidad Santo TomásDigital fatigue is an emerging issue in the field of occupational safety and health, linked to the rise in remote work and the intensive use of digital technologies. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze and map the available scientific evidence related to ergonomic risk factors and intervention strategies associated with MSDs among construction workers. This research was conducted through a Scoping Review developed under the PRISMA-ScR methodological guidelines, internationally recognized for the systematic organization and reporting of this type of review. The bibliographic search was carried out in different scientific databases and included publications between 2010 and 2025. This time frame was selected due to the growing number of studies related to occupational ergonomics, epidemiological surveillance, and biomechanical risk management in the construction sector. Initially, 93 potentially relevant studies were identified. After applying the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria and conducting the evaluation process through a checklist, 29 studies were selected for the final analysis. The excluded studies did not meet the eligibility criteria, mainly because they were not directly related to the construction sector or did not address ergonomic risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders. The findings showed that the main ergonomic risk factors were manual material handling, awkward postures, repetitive movements, and prolonged exposure to high biomechanical loads. To a lesser extent, factors related to work organization were also identified. Likewise, frequent use of ergonomic assessment methods such as REBA, RULA, and OWAS was identified. These methods were used to quantify biomechanical exposure and support preventive intervention strategies focused on reducing MSDs. Overall, the results indicate that although there is consolidated scientific evidence regarding ergonomic risk factors in the construction sector, limitations persist in the effective implementation of preventive interventions within occupational environments. Therefore, the study highlights the need to strengthen ergonomic risk management within the framework of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS), especially through the design and implementation of musculoskeletal epidemiological surveillance programsTipo de ítem: Ítem , Factores de riesgo psicosocial y su influencia en el bienestar laboral del personal docente de la Institución Educativa María Montessori en Acacías (Meta), según la Resolución 2646 de 2008(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-27) Blanco López, Deisy Viviana; Puentes Berdugo, Duván Steeven; Universidad Santo TomásThe aim of this study was to analyze the influence of psychosocial risk factors on the occupational well-being of the teaching staff at the María Montessori Educational Institution, located in the municipality of Acacías (Meta), within the framework of Resolution 2646 of 2008. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach with a concurrent design, allowing for the integration of quantitative and qualitative data to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under study. The quantitative component involved the application of the Battery of Instruments for the Assessment of Psychosocial Risk Factors, while the qualitative component was addressed through semi-structured interviews with teachers. The results indicate that workload and job demands are the main psychosocial risk factors, with a significant presence of high and very high stress levels. Additionally, the qualitative analysis revealed physical and emotional manifestations associated with these demands, along with a positive perception of social support and organizational climate, which function as partial protective factors. Based on the triangulation of findings, technical and preventive recommendations were formulated to guide institutional psychosocial risk management, grounded in Resolution 2646 of 2008 and aligned with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. The study concludes that structural interventions aimed at optimizing work organization and promoting a balance between job demands and teachers’ physical and emotional recovery are essential to strengthen occupational well-being and ensure the sustainability of human talent in the educational context.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Inteligencia artificial en el análisis predictivo de accidentes laborales como estrategia para fortalecer el Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo: una revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-27) Chaparro Concha, Jeniffer; Araujo Plaza, Ana María; Jaimes Gallo, Liliana Marcela; Flórez Orejuela, Eduwin Andrés; Universidad Santo TomásOccupational Health and Safety (OHS) management has traditionally focused on reactive actions, which limits the ability to anticipate workplace accidents. In this context, artificial intelligence emerges as an alternative that can strengthen prevention through the use of predictive analysis models. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to analyze the use of these tools in predicting workplace accidents as a strategy to support and improve the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, based on a review of scientific evidence published between 2019 and 2025. A scoping review was conducted through a systematic search of information in international academic databases such as Scopus and ScienceDirect, complemented by academic search engines like Google Scholar and university institutional repositories. The search included research articles, review papers, technical documents, and relevant regulations in both Spanish and English. The collected information was organized according to application sectors, techniques used, and reported results. The findings show an increase in scientific production on the use of artificial intelligence in OHS, with a predominance of machine learning techniques such as Random Forest and Support Vector Machines. These tools contribute to risk anticipation and decision-making processes; however, they also present limitations related to data quality, technological requirements, and ethical considerations. Overall, their application can support the strengthening of OHS management systems, provided that appropriate technical and organizational conditions are in place.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Estrategias, beneficios y limitaciones de la promoción de estilos de vida saludable en el lugar de trabajo: revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-22) Márquez Ruiz, Jhon Alexander; Ovalle Rivera, Liseth Johana; Verbel Burgos, Eveling Sandrith; Vera Avila, Cesar Augusto; Universidad Santo TomasThe promotion of healthy lifestyles in the workplace represents a priority strategy for workers' well-being and organizational sustainability. This study aimed to analyze the strategies, benefits, and limitations of this promotion based on the scientific evidence available between 2020 and 2025, through a scoping review that followed the methodological framework proposed by Arksey and O'Malley (2005), updated by the Joanna Briggs Institute (Peters et al., 2020). The search was conducted in five databases: Scopus, PubMed, SciELO, Redalyc, and Google Scholar, using search equations built under the PCC methodology in both Spanish and English. Out of a total of 6,700 identified records, 40 studies that met the established eligibility criteria were selected. The findings showed that multicomponent interventions, combining educational, environmental transformation, and organizational approaches, are the most effective in promoting sustained changes in workers' habits. Documented benefits included improvements in physical and mental health indicators, reductions in absenteeism of up to 28%, and returns on investment exceeding 2.7 dollars for every dollar invested. The main limitations identified were low sustained participation among workers, lack of managerial support, insufficient resources in small and medium-sized enterprises, and labor informality, which in Colombia reaches 57.2% of the employed population. It is concluded that, while the evidence supports the effectiveness of these programs, their implementation in contexts of high informality such as Colombia requires adapted strategies and organizational policies that integrate well-being as a genuine institutional priority.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Análisis de los riesgos ergonómicos presentes en trabajadores remotos en Colombia después de la pandemia de COVID-19 – revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-25) Hernández Tunarrosa, Wendy Karina; Bustamante Cruz, Isabel Sofia; Valbuena Mogollón, Laura Camila; Cepeda Buenahora, Viviana Alexandra; Universidad Santo TomasThe purpose of this study was to analyze the ergonomic risks present among remote workers in Colombia after the COVID-19 pandemic, providing insights to strengthen preventive strategies in teleworking contexts. Using a qualitative approach and an applied documentary design, scientific articles, institutional reports, technical documents, and Colombian regulations published between 2019 and 2024 were reviewed. The content analysis was organized into categories such as posture, furniture, lighting, screen exposure time, and domestic work conditions. Findings showed that the most frequent ergonomic risks were prolonged static postures, non-adjustable furniture, inadequate lighting, and continuous screen exposure. These factors increased musculoskeletal disorders in the neck, back, shoulders, and upper limbs, as well as visual fatigue. Evidence also indicated that many Colombian households lack proper ergonomic conditions and that organizations do not always provide ergonomic guidance, training, or preventive measures for remote work. The discussion revealed that these results are consistent with national and international studies, while contributing novelty by examining the persistence of risks in the post-pandemic period. Recommendations include improving workstation setup, reorganizing work schedules, and strengthening institutional support within the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. In conclusion, remote work continues to pose ergonomic challenges that require timely interventions and further research through direct evaluations in home environments.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Estrés laboral y la salud mental de los médicos generales de consulta externa en la unidad de planeamiento local Tintal en la ciudad de Bogotá(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026) Castellanos Cifuentes, Ana Kristyna; Álvarez Silva, Jenny; Universidad Santo TomásProblem: Work-related stress and mental health disorders among general practitioners represent a growing concern within Occupational Health and Safety, particularly in high-demand outpatient settings. This situation is exacerbated by shortcomings in areas such as preventative culture, regulatory compliance, and employee safety practices. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the root causes of falls from heights in the Colombian construction sector during the period 2019-2024, reviewing implemented prevention strategies and formulating proposals for complementary actions. This monograph employs a descriptive qualitative approach, developed through a scoping review and conducted using the PRISMA model to select and refine the studies found, further supported by a matrix for systematizing the collected information. The results show that falls from heights are among the most frequent workplace accidents and result from the interaction of human, technical, organizational, and workplace environment factors. Furthermore, even though preventive strategies focused on current legal regulations exist, their effectiveness is limited by shortcomings in their implementation and results. Therefore, this study provides elements to strengthen prevention programs and, in turn, promote a culture of self-care in the construction sector.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Diseño del Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, con base a la Resolución 0312 de 2019, para la empresa Darío Bermúdez Construcciones Civiles Ubicada en Bogotá: Consultoría(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-20) Gómez Escobar, Jhon Jairo; Pescador Bermúdez, Karen Vanesa; Rosero Uribe, Kemberly Andrea; Rangel Ramírez, Mónica Alejandra; Universidad Santo TomásThrough a three-stage methodological process, this consulting project aimed to evaluate, structure, and plan the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SG-SST) at Darío Bermúdez Construcciones Civiles S.A.S.
