Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Plan de negocio para la implementación de sistemas de oxigenación con energía solar fotovoltaica, en la producción de tilapia roja en sistemas intensivos, en el municipio de Lebrija Santander(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-25) Villalba Santiago, María Angélica; Patiño Becerra, Fanny Bernarda; Universidad Santo TomásIn modern life, access to energy is crucial to sustaining productive activities, and fish farming is no exception. Red tilapia production, in particular, has become a pillar of the rural economy in Colombia, driven by the adoption of intensive systems that integrate the use of renewable energy. The research utilized a quantitative methodology to address this problem, which affects the sustainability and profitability of fish farming. The analysis aims to determine the economic benefits of using solar panels versus the initial investment costs of their installation when incorporated into the intensive system for tilapia production in geomembrane tanks. The paper presents the different aspects of a business plan that applies sustainability theory, seeking a balance between economic viability, social responsibility, and environmental protection. It also incorporates principles of economic and financial analysis, examining initial investment costs, long-term operating costs, return on investment, and risk analysisTipo de ítem: Ítem , Fortalecimiento de la sostenibilidad en la producción de cacao mediante buenas prácticas agrícolas: caso de estudio en la finca La Virgen del Carmen, El Retorno, Guaviare.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-01-21) Tovar Tovar, Wendy Natalia; Tejeda Martínez, Daira Sue; Rojas Alonso, Joyce Smith; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001650647; https://scholar.google.es/citations?hl=es&user=lXAzZw4AAAAJ; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-2300-4296This mixed methods, applied research case study examines La Virgen del Carmen farm (El Retorno, Guaviare, Colombia) as an agribusiness unit to strengthen sustainability and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP/BPA) compliance. Phase 1 characterized ecological, operational, administrative, and technological dimensions, identifying excess soil moisture as the main operational bottleneck, the declared existence of field records and PPE use, and critical data gaps (Moniliophthora incidence, shade percentage, and post-harvest moisture control) that currently limit indicator-based management. Phase 2 assessed GAP compliance against ICA guidelines using the farm’s checklist and found a systemic documentation gap (criterion typing, status, and evidence), which prevents demonstrable conformity in audits and restricts access to demanding markets. Based on these findings, Phase 3 proposed a technical-managerial roadmap structured around five axes—infrastructure and safety; management information system and traceability; plant health and site management; post-harvest quality; and market differentiation—to be implemented over 12 weeks with measurable targets (e.g., ≥90% infrastructure compliance; ≥95% complete, signed records; final moisture <7.5–8% per lot). Overall, the study shows that closing documentation and infrastructure gaps, together with operational standardization, turns sustainability—environmental, social, and economic—into auditable compliance, a prerequisite for certification and enhanced market competitiveness. A descriptive study was conducted using a mixed-method approach, including semi-structured interviews, a SWOT matrix, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and a radar chart for visualization. The findings show that the establishments have important progress in operational and commercial management, especially in product quality, brand identity, and customer experience. However, there are weaknesses in strategic planning, financial management, and the informal handling of information. The sector vision also helps to understand how the establishments perceive the sector, their role in the value chain, and the external conditions that influence their performance. The study concludes that, although the sector has strengths that allow it to compete in specialized markets, there are still administrative challenges that limit its growth and sustainability. It is recommended to improve process formalization, strengthen managerial skills, and promote cooperation among actors to enhance performance, support sector development, and boost the progress of specialty coffee and cacao establishments in Villavicencio, Meta.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Impacto de la suplementación con bicarbonato, melaza y vinagre en pollos de engorde en el Meta(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-12-18) Ordoñez Bohórquez, Marlon David; Camacho Sanabria, Rito Andrés; Ortega Sanchez, Beatriz Alejandra; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001559608; https://scholar.google.es/citations?hl=es&user=-7QVmhUAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9038-6407Poultry farming is one of the main sources of animal protein worldwide, with broiler chicken production standing out due to its efficiency and low cost. In the department of Meta, Colombia, this activity faces limitations due to high temperatures and humidity, which cause heat stress, reduce weight gain, increase mortality, and affect feed conversion. Given this, supplementation with natural additives such as molasses, sodium bicarbonate, and vinegar emerges as an economical and sustainable alternative to improve production performance and animal welfare. The study was conducted at the La Primavera farm in Villavicencio (Meta), for 45 days, with 200 Ross 308 broiler chickens distributed in four treatments: T1 (control), T2 (1 g/L sodium bicarbonate), T3 (0.5 ml/L vinegar), and T4 (5 ml/L molasses). Weekly live weight, total and average weekly gain, feed intake, feed conversion, and mortality were evaluated. Molasses recorded the highest total weight gain (3,131 g/bird) and the highest weekly average (521.8 g), showing consistent growth. Bicarbonate reached 2,852 g with the most efficient feed conversion (1.84) and the lowest mortality, demonstrating its effect on regulating acid-base balance. Vinegar had the lowest gain (2,775 g), although it improved carcass yield. It is concluded that molasses is the most effective strategy for increasing weight gain, while bicarbonate improves feed conversion and reduces mortality. All three additives represent sustainable and low-cost alternatives to strengthen poultry productivity in the Colombian Orinoquía region.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Preservación y valorización de la medicina ancestral en la comunidad emberá Katío del Alto Sinú: Un estudio sobre sus prácticas curativas tradicionales y su impacto en la salud comunitaria(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-12-20) Idarraga Rico, Leidy Viviana; Ortega Sánchez, Beatriz Alejandra; Idarraga Jarupia, Bibiana; Universidad Santo Tómás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001692642; https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=_GnUfgcAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9038-6407One of the indigenous communities found on the Colombian coast, where the Emberá Katío ethnic group predominates, geographically located in the northwest of the country, we find the Alto Sinú sub-region, a community that has managed to save its natural medicine despite the brutal processes of colonization, violence and displacement. This knowledge represents a tool of resistance and cultural reaffirmation for the community that is trying to recover its territory of natural knowledge and strengthen social organization. We could say that an alternative to this medicine is what today is called (traditional medicine) which has also been accepted in this community, as challenges arise to access health services in the official system due to geographical, cultural and economic barriers. Traditional medicine is integrated and respects the ethnic culture, attending aspects of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health (where their spiritual knowledge is reserved under the right of cultural heritage of this same ethnic group). This research project leaves multiple benefits both academic and cultural based on the knowledge of medicinal knowledge under the approval of this ethnic group Embera Katío, this is because it not only includes a natural health system, but also gives the preservation of their cultural and natural heritage. In the first place we can guarantee a strengthening for the knowledge of the Jaibaná who are the natural doctors of this ethnic group, whose knowledge or knowledge is enriched in an autonomous way through its use with healing plants, whose knowledge is to guarantee the alternatives of traditional medicine where they are inaccessible due to the geographical, economic and cultural obstacle, in this we can also visualize the inclusion of informative dialogue between natural and traditional medicine. Now, this research facilitates the information of bridges of understanding between different health systems since one of the treasures that Colombia shelters is the endemic medicine, it is integrated in figures with high growth, we can guarantee throughout this research project that 204 endemic species are highlighted whose 140 are wide distribution (present in three or other departments) and with restricted distribution we find 64 (present in a single site of the country and two or three departments), its contribution is the social inclusion between the indigenous community and outsiders of this culture. It is possible to observe that these species of restricted distribution as is the case of Umandaukera, Zőiba, Kipará, Párárá whose native and endemic trees or plants manage to constitute a natural patrimony to others it is possible to make known a unique patrimony at national level, where research processes on processes of native medicines in this indigenous community are not shown before, this research will show the strengthening of the knowledge of indigenous knowledge and the healing process that gives different plants to the human body, ensuring the knowledge of the heritage of the Emberá Katío indigenous group.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Análisis comparativo de la empresa Tamariz en México con Alquería de Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024-12-19) González Rojas, Carlos Santiago; Quique Cárdenas, Juan David; Rojas Alonso, Joyce Smith; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001650647; https://scholar.google.es/citations?hl=es&user=lXAzZw4AAAAJ; http://orcid.org/0000-0002-2300-4296The document presents a comparative analysis of the dairy industry production systems between the Tamariz company in Mexico and dairy companies in Colombia, with the aim of identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of the Colombian sector. Alquería is distinguished by its diverse network of milk producers, including small and medium-sized farmers, which allows it to ensure a consistent, high-quality supply. Furthermore, the company emphasizes innovation and sustainability, offering support and technology programs to its suppliers, which contributes to the development of the Colombian livestock sector. Tamariz, on the other hand, focuses on a vertical integration model, which limits its interaction with external suppliers and its commitment to social responsibility. Throughout the document, key aspects such as quality and control in production, the impact of strategic decisions in the dairy sector, and the importance of establishing sustainable relationships with producers are addressed. The advantages and disadvantages of opting for in-house production versus external sourcing are analyzed, highlighting that Alquería, through its collaborative approach and auditing programs, maintains high quality standards in its supply chain, while Tamariz, although efficient in its processes, lacks a proactive approach to knowledge transfer and support for small producers. In summary, the paper highlights the diversity of business models in the dairy industry and the importance of collaboration and sustainability in the development of the sector. Key Words: Dairy production models, supply, sustainability, innovation, quality, competitiveness.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Comparación Del Sistema De Ganadería Free Stall En Colombia y México: Análisis De Implementación y Eficiencia Productiva(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-08-26) Cuadros Alvis, Willin Sebastian; Prieto Delgadillo, Mario Fernando; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001588923; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=X7E38GAAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5564-0011The monograph compares free stall cattle systems in Colombia and Mexico, highlighting their characteristics, advantages and challenges. The system is based on the confinement of cattle in individual pens and improves health management, feeding and production efficiency of dairy cows. In Colombia, the implementation of the system is restricted by economic elements, weather conditions and a tradition of preference for extensive grazing. In Mexico, on the other hand, its application is more common, particularly in arid zones where grazing is not viable. Although this system provides considerable benefits in terms of animal welfare and milk quality, in Colombia it encounters both economic and cultural obstacles. In Mexico, on the other hand, its progress has been driven by the presence of incentives and financing alternatives. Although open-air grazing systems enable animals to behave more organically and decrease certain infrastructure costs, they often pose greater challenges in terms of hygiene regulation, reduced production efficiency and increased environmental impact due to the spread of manure. In addition, they require appropriate training for effective management. In Colombia and Mexico, it is imperative to strengthen support policies, promote the implementation of more sustainable systems and enhance their profitability. In Colombia and Mexico, it is essential to strengthen support policies, promote the implementation of more sustainable systems and enhance their profitability. While Mexico has made remarkable progress in the implementation of more technological options, Colombia still faces structural constraints that hinder the upgrading of the livestock sector, highlighting the need for strategies focused on sustainability and efficiency.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Análisis de viabilidad para la comercialización de crema de cacao orgánico en Colombia: caso Cacaogold(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2025-09-12) Huertas Bayona, Ana María; Marín Rodriguez, Juan Camilo; Carrillo García, Helman Eduardo; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001470364; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uP2IuscAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1356-1993This study analyzes the feasibility of marketing organic cocoa cream in Colombia, focusing on the CACAOGOLD brand produced by communities in the Medio Ariari region (Meta). Many fish farmers still use ponds with rustic production methods that result in high mortality rates and high consumption of resources to operate. Currently, there is an increase in the use of intensive cultivation in controlled environments, such as high-density geomembrane ponds. This allows maximizing the number of fish produced per unit area, as well as reducing mortality rates compared to conventional ponds. This is why the development of the business plan for the production of red tilapia is presented, under a structured and methodological approach that comprehensively evaluates the feasibility of this project from different perspectives such as studies: market, technical, financial, administrative and legal; guaranteeing informed and informed decision-making to fish farmers in the municipality of Barrancabermeja or future investors, where they can improve both the efficiency and sustainability of their operations. With the project, it optimizes production, but also contributes to maintaining the nutritional quality and flavor of the final product, aspects that are essential to satisfy the demands of the national and international market. Innovation in fish farming towards intensive methods in controlled environments represents a significant opportunity to improve productivity and quality of the final product, while minimizing environmental impacts and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the sector.
