Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Propuesta de un SmartTwin Basado en un Sistema Híbrido IoT–Gemelo Digital para la Prevención de Fallas en Procesos de Manufactura(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-19) Vargas Bernal, Laura Sofia; Gómez Niño, Luis Alejandro; Trujillo Manrique, Jaime; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001685185; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=6Skl_TwAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7437-0299The research focuses on developing a simulation model that integrates digital twin and IoT technologies to analyze manufacturing processes in the metalworking sector and enable the implementation of predictive maintenance. The goal is to represent the behavior of production machinery through simulation, considering physical factors, operational status, and performance indicators directly associated with the target industrial machinery. The model was developed in a three-phase structure: literature review, conceptual modeling, and simulation using AnyLogic, which allowed for the evaluation of the system in different scenarios. The literature review identified some of the main causes of failures in production processes, as well as the variables used in studies aimed at implementing predictive maintenance and facilitating monitoring. This study incorporates physical, status, and monitoring variables that enable the evaluation and monitoring of the system and assess the model’s ability to detect operational failures. The model’s construction takes into account the integration of the machine, sensors, and environment in different scenarios for the digital twin within the simulation. The analysis performed regarding the variables varies depending on the technological level (automation) of the production plant. In this case, for manual manufacturing, the variables that pose a challenge for implementation are those related to equipment condition; conversely, in automated environments, the variables for analysis and monitoring play a significant role, since data is obtained directly. thanks to this capability, indicators are of great importance in automated scenarios, as the reliability of the information facilitates data analysis as well as real-time system monitoring. The literature review also revealed that integrating digital twin and IoT technologies is a viable approach for establishing maintenance systems in manufacturing companies. However, implementation is limited by the accessibility of the technology, staff training, and, finally, the complexity involved in incorporating these systems into environments with a low level of technological infrastructure. The results of the simulation and research demonstrate the significance of the indicators and variables, as well as how they change depending on the degree of automation in the production plant. On the one hand, there is manual manufacturing, which is characterized by the importance of state variables due to limitations in the availability of information; on the other hand, there are automated systems, which facilitate analysis and continuous monitoring. The model can contribute to the analysis and improvement of maintenance systems established in production processes; however, it must be noted that this integration is progressive, depending on the available technology, to lay the groundwork for creating larger models that are better adapted to the diversity of systems. This improves decision-making and, in conjunction with the evolution of production, leads to greater digitalization. This study demonstrates the conceptual feasibility of combining digital twins and the Internet of Things (IoT) to support the implementation of predictive maintenance. Although SmartTwin is a simulated proposal rather than a real-world scenario, it establishes a foundation for representing equipment performance monitoring.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Propuesta de un Modelo para la Optimización del Inventario en Droguería America Plaza en la Ciudad de Sogamoso(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-19) Chaparro Diaz, Nicol Sofia; Puentes Albarracin, Zandra Vannesa; Quintero Navarro, Geider; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001662439; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8278-4501The purpose of this project is to propose an inventory management model for Droguería América Plaza, located in the city of Sogamoso, with the aim of improving control, inventory availability, and the efficient use of the resources already available to the drugstore. This research project stems from the characterization of several problems related to current inventory management, including disproportionate stock levels, expired products, and inaccurate inventory, all of which affect the operational efficiency and profitability of the business. Currently, the drugstore uses Dominium Plus software to manage its inventory. While this tool fully meets basic operational tasks, it lacks analytical capabilities, i.e., functions that allow management to make optimal decisions about what and how much to buy, how to best rotate products, and plan for future inventory. The research project will not be based solely on theory; we will use a comprehensive and practical approach, combining what the numbers say (quantitative) with the team's experience and knowledge (qualitative). This will allow us to describe how everything currently works, then design a customized model and analyze whether it is fully viable in practice. We will mainly focus on the products that move the most and are most valuable to the business (high turnover and value).Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Propuesta de mejora para la gestión de inventarios de la empresa DPORTS Bogotá(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) Trujillo Giraldo, Andres Felipe; Bravo Camacho, Nicolás; Granados Delgado, Oscar Emmanuel; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001562611; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=SdjsNtQAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7422-8388This project presents the results of the implementation of improvements in DPORTS's inventory management, developed during 2025 through the application of industrial engineering techniques and technological tools. The study is based on a comprehensive diagnosis of the consistent decline in enrollments over the past decade, a phenomenon attributed to internal factors such as limited program positioning, outdated academic content, and insufficient visibility of its value proposition, as well as external factors related to institutional competition, perceptions of labor market saturation, and the economic conditions of prospective students. A qualitative and descriptive approach was applied, using surveys of current students, interviews with academic and administrative staff, and benchmarking with other higher education institutions. From the results, the main determinants of the enrollment decrease were identified, and strategic actions were formulated to reverse this trend. These strategies are structured around three main pillars: transformation of the academic offering and perceived value, optimization of the applicant experience, and strengthening of value-based marketing. The findings show that improving student recruitment and retention requires an integrated approach combining academic management, curricular innovation, institutional communication, and early vocational guidance. It is concluded that the implementation of the proposed strategic plan will strengthen the program’s positioning, enhance its attractiveness among new applicants, and contribute to the academic and financial sustainability of the faculty in the medium term.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Evaluacion de riesgos laborales y su coxion con el bienestar social: Revision bibliometrica bajo el marco del ODS 3(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-04-30) Blanco Vargas, Leidy Katherine; Morales Mendez, Jonathan David; Universidad Santo TomásThis study addresses the following research question: What are the most relevant scientific trends concerning occupational risk assessment and its link to social well-being in Colombia between 2019 and 2024? To answer this question, a quantitative bibliometric review was conducted, focusing on the Scopus database, with the aim of identifying key actors, emerging themes, and gaps in the academic literature. The research arises from the problem of the high energy costs associated with these types of machines, which account for up to 60% of operating costs in the industry. This reduces profitability and exacerbates environmental impacts due to their dependence on fossil fuels. The methodology employed was quantitative and experimental, and was developed at the Teniente Cruz Paredes Educational Institution in Cumaral, Meta. A prototype was designed and installed integrating a 40W monocrystalline solar panel, a 12V-9Ah battery, and a 10A MPPT controller. The results show an 80% decrease in electricity consumption, improved stability in the injection and extrusion process, and a reduction of 0.08 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. Photovoltaic solar energy has proven to be a technically and economically viable alternative, as well as an educational tool for promoting environmental awareness and the transition to sustainable practices.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Planta Procesadora de Alimentos Balanceados para Aves y Cerdos en Aguazul - Casanare(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-04-13) Naranjo Niño, Juan Camilo; Pedroza Riveros, Andrey Esteban; Zipaquirá Vargas, Ángel Alexander; Universidad Santo TomásThis undergraduate thesis evaluates the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of implementing a food production plant for pigs and hens in the municipality of Aguazul, Casanare Department, in the Colombian Orinoquía region. This area has a strong agricultural focus, availability of raw materials, and sustained growth in livestock activity, conditions that favor the development of agro-industrial initiatives aimed at strengthening local production chains. The proposal arises from the growing demand for balanced feed in the municipality and its surrounding area, where there is a significant number of backyard pigs and poultry, indicating a potential market for the production and marketing of feed concentrates for these production systems. The project proposes locating the plant in the village of San José de Bubuy, taking advantage of its proximity to production areas and the regional availability of inputs such as corn and palm oil. An initial production capacity of 2,400 tons per year (60,000 40-kg bags) is proposed, with progressive growth in volume and price over five years. Financial analysis demonstrates profitability and return on investment in the short term, with stable margins and positive cash flow. The plant's implementation will contribute to regional economic development, strengthening livestock productivity and local agro-industrial integration.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Optimización del proceso de liquidación de órdenes de trabajo (OT) y gestión de la información para el área comercial de Navitrans S.A.S.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-04-07) González Santiago, Karen Juliana; Martínez Luna, Reinaldo; Universidad Santo TomásThe focus of this project is the optimization of the work order (WO) settlement process and the improvement of information management in the commercial area of Navitrans S.A.S. This company, with more than 35 years in the sector of maintenance services, repair and commercialization of heavy vehicles and construction machinery of worldwide recognized brands (Foton, International, Hyundai and Zhong Tong), has grown significantly and currently has 16 branches nationwide. In this research project, this methodology will be applied to the dairy sector in a livestock company (Hacienda Agrícola Casa de Lata) located in Chiquinquirá, Boyacá, in order to cover milk production from the moment of collection and preparation of the milking cows to the sale of this product in stores and supermarkets. The aim is to improve costs in the use of resources such as labor, equipment, utilities, facilities, infrastructure, and operator time in order to increase the profitability of production. This study takes a qualitative approach, as it initially began with an academic literature review, which evaluated the implementation of the TDABC methodology in different contexts, such as hospitals, industries, warehouses, and cheese factories, among others, where this costing system has been used and analyzed to improve productivity. This methodology allows key factors to be identified for analysis, such as milk production costs, where a lack of accurate accounting tools for strategic decision-making within the company was evident. It was observed that the price paid per liter of milk is lower than the cost of the entire process, which means that the cost is below the actual cost of production, as farmers are structurally operating at a loss, compromising their economic sustainability, limiting their capacity for reinvestment, and increasing their vulnerability to climatic, health, or market variations. The bibliometric analysis was carried out using a search in Scopus with Jupyter Notebook, which allowed us to review trends, relevant authors, and applications in the TDABC sectors, to make calculations and determine how much per liter should be paid so that farmers can make a profit and how much milk should be sold in the markets. The TDABC methodology shows great potential for implementation in the livestock sector in Boyacá, as it facilitates the accurate distribution of expenses according to the actual time spent on tasks. This costing system contributes to the optimal optimization of sustainability, efficiency, and competitiveness in the dairy industry in Colombia. The results of this study show that the actual cost of production differs significantly from the empirical estimates used by producers. This study identified hidden costs associated with the use of infrastructure, labor, and maintenance. It was also found that profitability depends largely on the purchase price of the intermediary or company that buys the milk and on the operational efficiency of the production system. The implementation of the TDABC model improves the accuracy of cost determination to support decision-making and strengthen the economic sustainability of the livestock product, as it provides accounting information for production management and negotiation within the dairy supply chainTipo de ítem: Ítem , Estudio Operativo y de Mercado para la Planificación Productiva Integral de la Heladería Bombón Ártico en Villapinzón(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-03-26) Díaz Vargas, Juan Esteban; Calderón Roncancio, Maryori Daniela; Aguilar Tovar, Cristian Alejandro; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000075026; https://scholar.google.dk/citations?user=ftjpMIUAAAAJ&hl=en; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6103-881XIn the local context of the municipality of Villapinzón in Cundinamarca, Colombia, Heladería Bombón Ártico represents a business case that highlights the need to strengthen its production planning. In response to this problem, this work proposes conducting a comprehensive study to establish technical foundations in the production planning of ice cream cone cookies at the ice cream shop. The proposed analysis aims to provide tools to optimize resources, improve decision-making, and strengthen the company's competitiveness. The above, taking into account the analysis of customer preferences and consumption habits, their perception of service quality, and an operational study for the definition of guidelines in the comprehensive production planning.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Madurez Digital e Inteligencia Artificial en la Cadena de Valor de la Industria Alimentaria Colombiana: un Análisis Comparativo con Brasil(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-02-13) Cabrera Arteaga, Angela Patricia; Torres Arteaga, Juan Camilo; Valcarcel Camejo, Wilson Bayardo; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001691014; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=GwQuqfEAAAAJThis research analyzes the level of digital maturity and the adoption of Artificial Intelligence within the value chain of the Colombian food industry through a comparative approach with Brazil. The study shows that in Colombia approximately 62% of companies in the sector are located at basic or intermediate levels of digitalization, while only 6% reach advanced levels. The adoption of technologies such as sensorization, advanced analytics, and Artificial Intelligence remains limited, being present in less than 12% of organizations. This situation is associated with low technological investment, estimated at around 1.2% of manufacturing value added, as well as gaps in infrastructure, human talent, and institutional coordination. In contrast, Brazil demonstrates a higher level of digital maturity. More than 55% of food companies use real-time monitoring systems and around 60% incorporate Artificial Intelligence in production and logistics processes, achieving productivity increases of over 15% and waste reductions of up to 20%. The comparative analysis concludes that Colombia is currently at an intermediate stage of digital maturity and that the Brazilian experience offers strategic lessons to strengthen the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the Colombian food industry through the progressive adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Optimización de la Cadena de Valor en Logística de Transporte de Carga, Enfoque Sostenible y Metodología de Mejora Continua (Análisis Comparativo, Brasil-Colombia)(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-03-17) Aguilar, Claudia Marcela; Martinez Saah, Carolina; Bayardo Valcárcel, Wilsón; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001691014; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=GwQuqfEAAAAJPROBLEM AND RELEVANCE Regional Context and Competitiveness Latin America faces one of the greatest structural challenges for its economic development: high logistics costs. Although this method is commonly used, it presents significant limitations: transcription errors, difficulties managing active and inactive students, and the absence of an automated system that ensures accuracy in results. These weaknesses not only affect the reliability of the information but also cause delays in the consolidation of academic reports. This project is justified by the need to strengthen academic management through technological solutions that integrate efficiency, reliability, and control. Based on the principles of industrial engineering and aligned with the philosophy of continuous improvement, the automation of this process seeks to optimize registration times, reduce human errors, and contribute to institutional quality in the delivery of academic results. The general objective is to develop an algorithm to automate the entry of partial grades, calculate final scores, and generate reliable reports. For this purpose, Google Colab was employed as the programming environment in Python, facilitating the creation, testing, and validation of the code in a collaborative and accessible platform. The methodology was designed as a qualitative case study, combining semi-structured interviews with teachers, participant observation, and document analysis of the current records. These techniques made it possible to identify weaknesses in the existing system and validate the benefits of the proposed solution. The work plan included four phases over a four-month period: analysis and design of the data flow, algorithm coding in Google Colab, functionality testing, and the preparation of a user manual with training for teaching staff.
